TTC no 3? Anyone just started / about to start / about to start thinking about it?

I am absolutely not going to go nuts about it this time like I did for no 2. Because my kids have each other and won't be alone looking after their ancient parents in years to come. But a 3rd would be a bonus. And part of me doesn't care either way, and another part cannot wait for a lovely little snuggly new born. And part of me is enjoying getting my nights back, and my body, and is worried about the money, the lack of bedrooms, the need for a bigger car, having another miscarriage, or high risk pregnancy, a 3rd CS, a baby in intensive care. But then 5 months of no contraception and nothings happening..... The baby is 11 months, and we said we'd start putting more effort in once he is 1....

Anyone in the same boat? Want to hang out and worry / pretend not to worry?

Hi ! Can i join? Have just started ttc no3 . Am 38 , DS is nearly 9y and DD (via gestational surrogacy after 10 miscarriages and an illness its a long story)is 19m. Feel like after the 5y break from trying after the miscarriages my illness etc and having DD via surrogate , I need to see if things are still the same ( conceived easily but unexplained miscarriages, DD genetically ours so go figure , DS normal pregnancy ) before moving on to IVF on myself which i haven't actually tried and then thinking about surrogacy again. Have just convinced DH that this would be a good idea at all. Don't know why i do this to myself but felt always that I wasn't necessarily done even after just having DD unlike DH .We'll we've just started so here we go lovely 2ww. I must be crazy, DD would be only 2 and a bit if it worked now and I'm struggling with these two but as I said to DH this could take years like with DD so we better get started before all my eggs are gone. Wondering what's going on in there anyway . its been years since i had tests and scans and levels were lower than average then already but we did have DD on the second ivf from just a few eggs.used an ov kit and always regular cycles so wheels seem to be still turning which is a good sign . sorry am rambling but can't sleep am in shock of these recent developments can't believe DH changed his mind ...

Welcome nordic. Sounds like you really have been through the mill. Interesting that your DD is genetically yours, despite so many mc's before. Do you think your illness was the cause? Might it have been your body saying "I'm not capable of sustaining 2 of us as the moment"?

Think nothing will happen this month. DH is really irritating me, so not exactly into DTD. also, I'm getting a cold, which always seems to do wierd things to my cycle. TBH I feel like shite, and feel worse knowing I'm meant to be going to some dull dull dull thing with my mother later, followed by my work Christmas thing. Very close to crying off both.

Hi we are ttc#3.
35. DD age 7 DS age 3 (previous marriage)
Trying for 4 months and going insane already! Should of come on yesterday and have not yet, don't dare take a test as im happy thinking I could be pregnant. Would be very sad if its negative.
No real signs except big boobs (which im loving)
Cant remember if I felt pregnant before missed period with last two.
Good luck girls! good job we have the chat page as my other half would of done a runner if he knew how nuts its driving me.

Nordicmom · 30/11/2013 12:52

Thanks you both . I developed my illness from steroids that I was given as a last resort after 7 misscarriages and then had three more on them . Once I stopped the steroids my body couldn't recover normal function. So my ilness didn't cause the miscarriages since it happened after we stopped trying and moved on to surrogacy . I did two IVF cycles with our own eggs and sperm and the surrogate actually conceived both times but the first one was an early miscarriage possible ectopic , second round with two embryos resulted in dd:)! Things change though and miracles do happen so I need to try this again first . We conceived every time we tried those 10 times so super fertile just couldn't sustain it for some reason .

FlipFlippingFlippers · 30/11/2013 17:06

Can I join? I'm 28 with 2 dd's (4 & 5) and ttc #3. Had a mc last year and AF has been a bit all over the place so I'm trying not to worry ive got a horrible feeling something is wrong eek Only been ttc for 2 cycles but it's taking longer than with my previous 2.

bonzo77 · 30/11/2013 19:23

Hi cherie, wood and flip. So much for trying not to be "trying" etc

nordic i recognise your name, either we end up on similar threads, or were you on the MC boards a couple of years ago? I have had one MC, I cannot imagine how awful it must be to go though 10. Emotionally and physically draining.

OP posts:
BunnyBaby · 30/11/2013 20:38

Oooh... I think I found everyone.. I was all alone on the other thread.. perhaps I'll signpost the old one over here..

Can I hop on board too? waves around to everyone

We've been trying half heartedly since August (only getting into gear once a month).

I'm in the 2WW just and we've managed at days 8, 10 and 12, my cycle is only 26 days so we'll see where we get this month.

I'm 37 and DH is 39. Our two DSs are almost 6 and almost 3.

I had a MMC between my two which they think happened at 10+2 so understand the heartache, but haven't been through that the number of times Nordic has.

I keep thinking 'just one ( or 2!!) more / not finished yet', No.3 would be lovely, unsure if my body could cope with 4 thought, but lets get on with 3 first.

DH is working late tonight, so to show my OCD tendencies (joking), I have updated the list:

TTC:

2lilGirls, 30yo, (2xDD), Cycle 5
Bonzo77, 36yo, (2xDS), Cycle 6

MrsW2809, 27yo, (DS & DD), Cycle no: 0! - coil due out in 9 days!
Nordicmom, 38yo, (DS8, DD1), Cycle 1

Graduates:

For others who want to add, just copy the whole list and add yourself in (I've done it in alphabetic order).

Us on the thread can repost the list with Graduation news (squee!) or an additional cycle.

Once in a while we can dust through with a broom and tidy it up..

Here to lots of Grads!

Bunny x (contemplating whether 1x glass of red ok in 2ww?! - thinking yes..)

BunnyBaby · 30/11/2013 20:39

PS sorry if I missed anyone as I was scrolling up and down..

bonzo77 · 01/12/2013 22:20

Thanks bunny for collating the stats. Am rather excited at the prospect of graduates from this thread. Who will be first I wonder? Doubt it's going to be me. I reckon my chart will show I ovulated yesterday. We dtd this morning, but previous time was 4 days ago. I guess we'll just have to endure the 2ww and see...

I've just started the dreaded 2 w wait too and am already obsessing about early signs since I've always known whithin days from ovulating . It's always my breasts first and normally nausea but this time is different since it's the first try after getting sick and I feel nauseous on regular bases anyway when I get tired for instance . I swear I already feel my breast aching but am probably imagining . DH is requesting I don't go all crazy while waiting but I don't think it's possible . Will try to distract myself which is definitely easier with 2 kids already thankfully. Good luck to us all :)!

Msastria1 · 02/12/2013 04:46

After 28 years of actively trying not to get pregnant and ~17 on subcutaneous implant (I was in the human trials!) I have become a flipping cliche, trying to get preggers before its too late (now 43). Removed implant 6 weeks ago, using clearblue fertility monitor, using a charting app and now beginning to take basal temps. I feel like I've lost my mind as evidenced by my joining this support group. Not sure which is more frightening, getting pregnant or not being able to.

OrangeFizz99 · 02/12/2013 07:37

I'm on the 2ww cycle 2 of trying properly.

Am 33 with dc3.5 and 21 months. Will update stats later when on PC!

Fingers crossed for all - I'm 7dpo today.

BunnyBaby · 02/12/2013 12:11

How exciting, several of us in 2WW!

Bongo - It can be confusting can't it? We DTD on Friday, so I thought I was in 2WW.. then got EWCM yesterday, so cue an extra DTD, so we've managed to DTD x4 this month at 8, 10, 12 & 14, which is better than the 1x for the past 4 months. I think we're on the right track now ;-) 11 days to go until AF due...

Nordic - I had no symptoms at all last month, but my eczema healed on my wrist just before AF and is now back again Hmm.

Msastria - It's funny how quickly we can flip from the 'no baby' mode to a charting / google expert in days (hours).

Orange - 7 days to go, fingers crossed!

Cakecrumbsinmybra · 02/12/2013 14:27

Well, lots more of us now.

Its CD13 for me today, so shagging has commenced. MIL arrives on CD16, which tends to be the day I OV - argh! Can't bear doing it when anyone is staying in the house, esp not my MIL!! However, she's not arriving til late in the day, so perhaps we can set the alarm early and do it in the morning. Will be really relaxing with DS2 potentially waking up and shouting for me at the top of his voice. And I want another one????

bonzo77 · 02/12/2013 16:30

bunny it gets more confusing yet.... because I've not yet had a +ve on an OPK this month, and they are the cheap ones, and I've got 100's which go out of date soon, I used one today, and the line, though not dark enough to be a positive, is there. Now, IME after ovulation the line goes away pretty fast. So maybe I'm yet to ovulate, and my slightly higher temp is more related to my cold. I think we have a reasonable sex life considering we have a nearly-one year old. Normally manage 4 or 5 times between the end of one period and the start of the next, but I think we need really to double that to stand a chance of getting pregnant. Unless we are unusually lucky. It all seems like a lot of effort (though clearly less effort than having 3 children)!

cakecrumbs I know the not-wanting-to-DTD-while-guests-are-in-the-house thing. Why not try to get a shag in the night before, and again early am on the 16th. You could always persuade DH to come in a cup and use a syringe to put the, ahem, emission where it needs to go. Not sure that really works, but at least you'd feel like you were doing something.

OrangeFizz99 · 02/12/2013 19:12

oo cake I worked out the other day that if this month isn't the one next month's crucial days will be during a pil visit! Slightly daunting organisation wise I agree!

I used fertility friend with dd2 so went back today on there looking up my symptoms from the cycle she was conceived. Have convinced myself I have them all now of course. We also managed better this cycle (although first official cycle of trying we didn't manage it at all so the bar is low..) doing it on cd9, cd13 and cd14.

It's nice to know there are so many of us ttc3-ers out there!

I think this is cycle 5 for me now...

Has anyone actually done the syringe thing??? I joked about it this morning as I'm not well and couldn't face sex, and we laughed about oh but how much easier it would be than all the bonking, esp when MIL here

BunnyBaby · 03/12/2013 17:24

Bonzo & Cake, you make me laugh, serious desk based tea spluttering moment here. I haven't done the syringe thing, but ditto for the ease of it.. Hmm

bonzo77 · 03/12/2013 19:50

bunny pleased to have entertained you!

Yeah. We did the syringe thing. DH had a short spell of performance anxiety. Used one of DS1's nurofen syringes (naturally it went through the dishwasher afterwards). I'm not sure if it resulted in a pregnancy or not, it was while we were trying for the pg that ended in a mmc. But cannot rember if it was the cycle I got pg or not.

Symptom spotting. Dangerous sport. Particularly when lots of early pg symptoms are the result of progesterone. Which dominates the post ovulation part of the cycle anyway.

I reckon that those temps are illness not ovulation. When we dtd last night I could really feel my cervix, things were very wet, and today I've been quite bloated, with more generalised ovulation pains. So I reckon all that and the nearly positive OPK means today is the day!

OP posts:
Cakecrumbsinmybra · 03/12/2013 19:57

Yes, it was the Calpol syringe that I mentioned to DH this morning!! Perfect for it I would have thought... I'm not sure DH would actually go for it though - I think he only agreed to No. 3 so that we would have more sex.

Good luck bonzo! Tbh, we are being very relaxed about it this month. I know beggars can't be choosers, but an August baby next year would not be our ideal for several reasons. But we will attempt tonight, Thurs am, and maybe again if MIL goes out and conditions are right!!

Cakecrumbsinmybra · 03/12/2013 19:59

Oh yes, I found at last week a 43 year old friend is more than 20 weeks pg with no.3! She had a mmc three years ago so kept this one very quiet (I thought they had given up tbh). Hurrah for her and gives me some hope!

Nordicmom · 04/12/2013 13:46

The waiting is killing me ,can test from sun earliest . Don't know the length of my cycle Atm though it seems to vary ... I think I'm even more anxious with my history of conceiving easily but loosing it and it's been 4 y ...on top of it have a horrible cold so just lieying in bed feeling miserable while thankfully the little one is at nursery today so I can actually look after myself ! Anyone testing soon ? Good luck
