Please share your experiences!!

My body feels all over the place, I was due my last injection in August but didn't have it. I have just ordered OPK tests to see if I am ovulating. Taking vitamins to hopefully regulate my periods.

Is depo as evil as everyone makes out?

Yes i was on the depo for 9 months after having my son , i had my last one in january , i had a break and started taking angus castus and after a month i got my period so then i went straight on the pill to help bring my cycles back and i come of the pill in august to start trying for a baby . I learned the hard way about what the depo does to your body i felt pregnant , sore boobs etc and no period so id test and it was negative but obviously with no period you know your not ovulating so you cant be pregnant :( it drove me to insanity. The depo also sits in fat stores so the more weight you can lose the better but it can take 18 mnths to come out of you system i had no idea and i was distraught when i found out because we wanted to try for another baby asap. i was definatley one of the lucky ones to get my cycle back so soon i was worried after coming of the pill but they are fine just an average 28 day cycle. i would start taking angus castus asap it brings your estrogen levels down and balances it out so you can ovulate ..hope your one of the lucky ones too how long were you on it? x

I was on it for about 3 years and then went on to the implant. After having that taken out I had two more jabs of depo, so a very long time. Since August I started my period, but two weeks later I started it again!! I'm hoping that my cycles can sort themselves out but I'm going to order the agnus castus now, it certainly can't do worse than the depo.

I've always been a very impatient person and I feel like having a proper toddler tantrum about it all - WAAAH I DON'T WANT TO WAIT!!!!!!!

haha lol i know all about toddler tantrums ...i was the same i kept bleeding on and off all over the place and couldnt work out what was a period and what wasnt its so confusing i would never go on the depo again knowing what i know now it basically just shuts down your lady parts lol i have heard that women who have got pregnant shortly after coming of are more likely to miscarry or have chemical pregnancies because its harder for the egg to implant but how much of that is true i dont know im just trying not to worry about that but just think as soon as you do have an actual period you know its out of your system and its game on lol x

technobimbo92 · 31/10/2013 13:07

ive saw posts online about the depo and women who still hadnt had a period for like 2 years then tried angus castus and had a period pretty much straight away so you should be fine . It was 6 weeks for me so keep me updated... maybe not the gory details but just AF is fine lol x

I didn't know that it sits in your fat stores shuffles off to remove the ironing from the top of the exercise bike that's really useful to know.

I am finding the same confusion, it's been a very long time since I had any proper period but these aren't what I remember them to be and I certainly never had them 14 days apart.

Fair play to the depo, out of all the contraception's out there, this one certainly seems to have the highest success rate, even when you do want to get pg. I'll never go on it again!!

lol yes funny you should say that i bought an excercise bike when i found out and ive lost half a stone .. do you have any children already ? x

Bathtimesoaker · 31/10/2013 13:13

No this would be our first. Great minds!! I'm not overweight but I've put on half a stone since my wedding earlier this year so would like to lose it. I've just got this vision of the depo sitting in my bum muscles because that's where I've always got the jab, so it's a good incentive to get myself moving more!! Did you use any particular brand of Agnus Castus?

OP posts:
technobimbo92 · 31/10/2013 13:20

i put on half a stone in the 9 months i was on it .. i just got the angus castus from holland and barret its in a green bottle and it says good n natural on the label lol it says rapid release on the front aswell if that helps x

Hi,
I had one depo shot in May, was due again in august but didn't go back for it. Haven't had a period since June and now I'm getting impatient.
How did you get on with agnus cactus bathtime?

minxi · 23/11/2013 21:50

Evil stuff... Took me 3.5 years to conceive.. I had 4 injections! :-(

redhead27 · 23/11/2013 22:11

Subject I could talk about all day..Was on the depo 3 years, came off it May 2011 not TTC but to give my body a break.
Didnt get a period until December 2011, then I had one every other week until I fell pregnant early March 2012 (started ttc Feb) and now have a gorgeous 1 year old.
So Im a depo success story but Ill never get it again, I really think it needs more research, if I hadnt fallen pregnant how long would my crazy periods have gone on for?! IMO yes, its evil.

Bazoo23 · 31/12/2013 21:51

Just a tip - I started taking Pregnacare Conception and was pregnant the next month.
Might be a coincidence but worth a try!

missmrsmummy · 01/01/2014 02:14

Oh I'm taking those! And my DH is on the men's ones. May be a coincidence it worked for you but you never know!

We are on our second cycle but hopefully get good news soon. I am hopeful after hearing your story!

Out of interest, did your periods go back to normal after baby?

Bazoo23 · 01/01/2014 08:40

I breastfed so they took 9 months to return but since then theyve been normal, I was really worried theyd come back the same as before!!

missmrsmummy · 01/01/2014 11:45

Oh that's good news! What a relief! Thanks for info x

Wishfulmakeupping · 01/01/2014 11:51

Hope it works out ok for you all waiting. I'm surprised didn't realise how much time it could take to get out of your system this is an eye opener.
I was on the depo for about 18 months in my mind thought it would take us 6 months at least to conceive once I'd come off it but I was pregnant within the second month and I wasn't back to having proper periods so guess I was very lucky- dd is nearly 1 now and have been back on the depo but we want to try again in about a year so may think about changing it.

missmrsmummy · 01/01/2014 17:58

That's good news too, wishful

On my 2nd cycle of TTC now so fingers crossed!
