hi.
i am new to this. so sorry if i don't understand all the terms that i have seen being used.
i am 24 next month. recently married. husband and i want to conceive and become a family.
when a teen 15 i had really bad periods to the point i couldnt stand or eat. so doctor put me on the depo injection. stopped it 2years ago for about 6months then had implant inserted as didnt want to become pregnant before wedding and honeymoon or be on period on wedding and honeymoon. had the implant taken out last week after a year and half.
since 15 with the depo injection i have had no periods. the 6months with nothing before implant, no periods.
since implant has come out, like within a couple of hours, i became really emotional like wanting to cry over nothing and my breasts seem to have become really sensitive.
so was wondering as anyone got pregnant with being on contraception for so long?
how long shall i wait til i go the doctors?
how quick should i get my periods?
thank you for responding.

hi I had my first period, after implanon, 6 months after removal. GP's have said that, contrary to official advice, it can take a while (up to a year sometimes longer) for the body to get back to normal after the implant. My best advise is to consider the first 6 months/ a year practice you might be lucky to get pregnant in the first few months but if you don't then try not to worry. I got my hopes up too much to start with but I'm more relaxed now (11 months and only 2 periods later with no BFP).
Keep a note of symptoms and changes but don't focus on them. You'll drive yourself crazy. The consensus here is that you can have all or none of the typical pregnancy symptoms at any time whether you are pregnant or not Smile
Take a pregnancy test after the first 6 weeks with no period then about once a week/fortnight until your period appears. You can buy cheap tests on Amazon or EBay - they are the same as the dip tests that GPs use.
I hope your cycle gets back to routine quickly
