Anyone aged over 35 and trying to conceive ?

Hi there. I'm 38 and have been trying to conceive for 15 months with no success. I have children but my husband has none of his own so we would love to have a baby together. Is there anyone else who is over 35 and been trying to conceive for a year plus ?

I'm 35 in May and been trying for two years :(
I have one child she is 11 from previous marriage, my partner doesn't have children

Yep. Just 35. Two dcs with exh and dh has 1 dc with exw. Trying for 2 years this month.

Hi yes, over a year ttc#2 and around 40. Took a very long time to conceive number 1, which I am thankful to have but it does not take aware desire for a second. Have started checking when ovulation is since July as cycle lengths are all over, having bed 28-30 days for years.

37 here. Have not been trying for long, but running in to lots of trouble so far, cysts, lack of AF and OVU. Already have 1 DD from a previous marriage, she is 15.

Hi, yes I'm 40. I did conceive in June... but unfortunately discovered at 12 week scan that baby had died Sad

I have two children already but would love to have a third.

Think that AF might have just returned... so looking to try again soon, fingers crossed.

Yes, lots of us here.

I'm 37, been trying for a smidge under 3 years. No kids (either of us). We are unexplained. Have tried 3x natural IVF this year and had one mc from that. We're about to try our first stimulated round.

Yes Writerwannabe83, my husband has had his sperm tested and is all normal and healthy. The problem is me. I have a few ovarian cysts and i don't ovulate. Periods are irregular. It's just that these days a lot of women over 35 seem to be conceiving really easily and quickly. A woman i know has recently had a baby at 38 and my Doctor said she gave birth at 39 after just 4 months of trying to conceive. My friend was 42 when she had her 3rd baby and again she had only been trying for a few months! I know that fertility is meant to decline after age 35 but so many woman seem to be having babies into their 40s. I feel like a bit of a freak as i can't conceive. It's nice to know though that there are others in the same situation though.

I am 38 and have been trying for a short time but feeling anxious as cycle length has shortened and I am worried about an early (peri)menopause. Have four DCs and I really do know how lucky I am...but it doesn't stop me feeling anxious and sad about trying to reconcile myself with not having anymore.

It's heartbreaking isn't it. I just want so badly to hold a newborn in my arms again. I was feeling hopeful this month as last cycle my period came textbook 28 days. I'm now in the middle of my cycle and hoping that by some miracle that i may be ovulating, although i don't have any signs though to suggest that i am. I guess i can dream of a positive pregnancy test in 2 weeks time.

Hiya yes me too I'm 38 and been trying for almost a year now with no success although have just posted separately as AF 7 days late but negative tests.

I conceived my 2 age 8&5 at first months trying and was the same with the miscarriages I had so I'm assuming my age is a factor this time roundSad

I was 38 went I conceived. It took Clomid to make it happen. We were "only" trying for 6 months when I took myself off the the GP and told him we'd been trying for 18 months Blush Glad I lied now....

I'm under a NHS infertility clinic and have my next appointment in November where i hope to be given Clomid then. BrassicaBabe, did you conceive on your first round of Clomid ?

Hi brassicababe what did the clomid do to help? I'm going next week to see fertility specialist. got married nearly 18months ago, had an op to remove endometrial cyst 4 months later, then had to stop trying for few months whilst getting over op. But have now been trying again for 8 months and still nothing. Am 35 next week and feeling shit about it. worst thing is not understanding why nothing is happening. his sperm tesed ok, my tube patency is ok, producing eggs, blood tests all ok. the op a success. what does the clomid do? would it help in my case?

Hi Im 35 ttc no.3. only been trying for 5 months but worried as my last 2 periods have lasted a day! starting to worry about early menopause or hormone abnormality (have an appointment tomorrow at doctors).
I've never felt old until trying to conceive no3 the thought that I have already started to produce less eggs in prep for menopause is scary.
Unsure with the ovulating thing, I cant remember seeing the obvious sign of ovulation for a while but lets face it when your at it all the time who knows what your looking at (sorry tmi).
Im at my sane point of the month, another week and I turn into obsessive google / mumsnet searching wild woman!

I'm almost 40 (hit the big 40 in about 6 month), OH is 41 and we're TTC no 1. My sister is 37 and she's just had her first, she fell pregnant after 2 months, so I'm hoping we're as lucky

Fingers crossed.

I turned 40 in Sept. Husband is 40 too, we've been trying for our first for 7 months. Nothing yet. AF due on Tuesday and without being negative just have a feeling it's on it's way :-(
Lots of us on here so hope that helps in some way.

I am 38 and have just started ttc for no 2. Already have a DD who was born 3 years ago. My previous pregnancy just happened without us really trying at all but this time I am more nervous as I am three years older...

I'm 38 and actually have just started trying again naturally after a 5 y break during which we had a DD by gestational surrogacy , she's our 2 nd child , first DS was a normal preg when I was 29. Our story is long but after DS I had 10 mc and endless tests and medical treatment without answers and then developed a chronic illness . Dd is only 19 m now but I can't shut that door yet and need to see for myself if things are still the same before thinking about other options once again. Amazingly have just convinced DH to go for the third . Have a feeling this is going to be a long road if we'll ever get there ...
