Impatient women's guide and supplements

Has anyone else read this? I am currently TTC and taking regular amounts of folic acid. This book suggests doubling the 400 mcg to 800 mcg, and Expecting Better suggests if you're overweight to upping the dose to 5mg. The former also suggests iron supplements and vitamin D and B6... I am at a loss, thought that if I was just taking the regular folic acid that would be enough. What supplements are people on, and what do you reckon? Is anyone taking DHEA?

I've not read that book.

The only time I've heard of increasing fokic acid is for very overweight people.

I take pregnacare conception vitamins (the boots own brand are good too). After ovulating I take b6 too. it can delay ovulating that's why i only take it after. Attempting to increase my short luteal phase.

I was also taking evening primrose and starflower oil capsules to increase ewcm up until ovulation but stopped as not recommended with cysts or fibriobs (I'm waiting on an ultrasound to see if I have either of these).

I don't temp but as far as I know you need to do it in the morning as soon as you wake up, before getting out of bed. You're looking for a temp increase after ovulating to confirm you have ovulated.

I would just stick with the regular folic acid dose as recommended. I read the Impatient woman's guide, but can't remember the advice to take more.

Doctors also recommend vitamin D, so I would take some of that too.

Iron is only necessary if you're anaemic.

I wouldn't start taking B6. I tried it to lengthen my LP, didn't work and got some bad side effects.

DHEA, is that not recommended if you're on IVF or if you're older than 35?

I'm taking omega 3, but DON'T take the cod liver one because it has too much vitamin A, which is bad if you're pregnant.
