Baby aspirin

I lost baby no2 a just under four weeks ago (confirmed loss 2 wks ago but bleed was 4 ago) and my MW has suggested she talk to the consultant about putting me on baby aspirin before trying for no3. This worked for my friend after 3 MCs. Does anyone have any experience of this, please. Keen to start trying again ASAP and wondering if I should start on the aspirin now. Off on holiday and want to try then. There's no response as yet from MW. I have just finished a normal period today. Should I just go for it? Feels like I have nothing to lose by taking it...

Sorry to hear your news. Have you had miscarriage blood tests? The NHS does this when someone had 3 miscarriages as repeat ones tend to indicate an issue, as opposed to the very sad but individual ones ( often out down to chromosomal issues early on etc). I had the tests which showed a blood clotting issue, hence aspirin needed but only when I get a positive pregnancy test, not before.

Might be worth speaking to a dr about it to see what they say.

Thank you, Hoop. It's sounds like you've had a few too so I'm also sorry for your losses. I'm 42 and MW has urged me to start again ASAP but also she's taking advice after 2 rather than 3, due to my age. Chromosomal abnormalities were mentioned as the most likely cause, but high BP and stroke/angina run in my family. For that reason I'm wondering if aspirin could be the answer.

Hi, agree ttc straight away sounds good. I used aspirin due to blood clotting factors, a mini stroke that I had and family history. But NHS not do tests for me after one mc and my main problem was getting pregnant so had tests privately. Both private and NHS obstetrician said only take aspirin when get a bfp for me. But if you want to take it without advice it is only £1 a packet and its babu aspirin not the adult dose.

I would definitely push for the recurrent mc tests though. Simple blood tests for thrombophilia mainly.

Sorry to hear your news.

I take aspirin 75mg once a day as soon as poss after bfp due to my hypertension (classed as high risk pregnancy). I also had mc x2 in the past (years ago). The obstetrician told me that the aspirin in my case is to prevent pre eclampsia and blood clots in the placenta.

A family history of stroke/high bp/heart attacks is not relevant.

Aspirin is used in cases of recurrent mc, sometimes heparin injections may be used too, depending on the causes, but I think it is only for after bfp. In the very early days the baby is not directly connected to your circulation anyway, not until the placenta is up and running.

Good luck.

Thank you both.
Gin, I heard it can interfere with implantation if taken too early, is that correct? If I take it early would that make no difference because baby not connected then?
