implantation bleed or v early miscarriage?

Hi...I was expecting AF yesterday. Have had mild cramping for 3 days...felt different to usual menstrual cramps more like previous pregnancy grumbles (also i normally only get cramps during my period not before) but also some cramping which feels like p pains. I had a tiny amount of pink after peeing 2 nights ago, then a bit more today...literally just spotting....the occasional bit of light pink. I still have cramps periodically...not bad enough for pain killers. Then just had to put myself out of my misery and did a p test yesterday. I got a faint positive....but it was positive! But having had a mc at 10wks in May this year, i guess i'm worried rather than excited...any advice gratefully received. Thanks.

I had implantation bleeding with both of mine. The first was IVF and the second wasn't. In both cases it was brown, not fresh. But what you describe might be that?

Sadly you know that there's nothing you can do at this stage except wait. I know how hard that is. I had two MCs and three failed cycles of IVF on the way to my pair.

Thank you beginnings. I really appreciate your response and so pleased u eventually got a pair! :-) i guess i just have to sit tight and see what mother nature wants for me.

hi, I had both implantation bleeding and a very early mc in my route to becoming pg. For me they were very different - very early mc was like the worst period ever, very heavy and very painful. Implantation bleeding was a bit of spotting (I think mine was red not brown) that then went away. No pain.

Hi sorry to jump in on your thread but I'm anxious as well as I was 4 days late for my period and was experiencing pg symptoms but have started to bleed only a bit (pink when I wipe) and very faint abdominal cramps, normally when I have a period it's heavy and has clots and I get very painful cramps but none of it this time am I pg is this implantation bleeding or a mc ?

I am 7 weeks pg through IVF and had a heavy bleed and cramps during weeks 4 and 5, straight after my (very faint) positive x 3. I thought it was all over, but when I had blood tests my HCG kept rising indicating there was still a pregnancy. I was prescribed progesterone (injections) and this stopped the bleed. It's my understanding that extra progesterone cannot prevent a miscarriage but it can help with unidentified uterine bleeding. It might be worth having a chat to your doc - you might struggle to get progesterone injections on NHS, but you can also get it in the form of a pessary.

I've been for an early scan which showed that there were originally 2 embryo's but only one now - the bleed could have been this embryo disappearing.

Hi Dawn, it sounds like we have had exactly the same experience....will keep my fingers crossed for u too. My cramps have stopped now after 4 days...so i guess now it's just a case of sitting and waiting.

Took a test today came back negative Hmm so I guess it's just my hormones playing tricks on me x

Hi all, I'm all confused too! I am 9 days late but had a day of bleeding at 4 days late then nothing. I'm regular as clockwork so assume this might have been an early mc or just my body being mad! Tested again this morning & bfn which I accepted & was ready to move on to next month. I usually have one coffee a day but have felt nauseous for the last couple of days & have had an ache in my right groin area. Now I'm feeling 'heaviness' in my abdomen. I'm sure it must be in my head because I have a negative test but this month has been so weird it's messing with my head. I guess I'll just see what happens next month......
Ginatonica - congrats on the pregnancy, hope everything goes smoothly.
Fingers crossed for all of us that are in crazy body limbo xx

Thanks all. Dawn and grizzer ...i wonder if it is worth u both doing another test in a few days (i am planning to do this). I only got a faint positive...but presumably if it was implantation bleeding the hcg levels will be low. They do say a positive is positive but a negative may be wrong. Good luck all and let me know how u get on.x

I was about to start a thread just like this. Period was four days late so I took a test on Monday and got a bfp.
Tonight, I'm getting quite crampy and there was a pink smear on the loo roll when I wiped. I hope to god it isn't another mc. I had 3 before having my dd, 2 years ago.
I was so happy Monday and now am expecting the worst.Sad

Some bleeding can be quite normal so try not to worry at this stage. I had mc in April & when I saw dr (before it was confirmed) he said a lot of women bleed quite heavily & it often means nothing. Hope it's ok for you, congrats on pregnancy xx
