Today I'm 18 days late (51 day cycle) but no sign of a BFP. Anyone else?

So my last AF was 28th August for 3 days (they're always 3 days long). I was due 30th September but no sign of AF.

My cycles are on average 33 days long but vary between 29 and 35 days. I've been off the pill for a year. Prior to that I had been on the pill pretty solidly since I was 16. I'm now 30 years old my partner is 36 and this will be our first child.

I've had a couple of doctors appointments as I was getting concerned that a) we hadn't yet conceived and b) I had put on weight since coming off the pill and my understanding is that the opposite is normally true.

Anyway, she took blood on a very early cycle day and tested for hormone levels, rubella immunity and thyroid issues.

I went for my second appointment and was told that my thyroid is fine and I am immune to rubella. my hormone levels were 8.5 FSH and 7.5 LH. My doctor said that normally the LH level at the beginning of your cycle is slightly lower than FSH so that could be a very slight sign of PCOS but she wasn't particularly worried by the levels.

Nevertheless she referred me for an ultrasound at my local hospital and said she would look at putting me on metformin. She suggested I get my blood tested very early in my next cycle, then at 21 days, then at 28 days. I think the idea being that she wanted to see if I was ovulating.

The problem with that is that my AF hasn't showed up. So everything is on hold... Angry

So anyway, I'm now at cycle day 51 and am 18 days over my average 33 day cycle.

I'm really hoping I am pregnant, as is my other half, but don't want to get too excited.

I've done two Internet cheapies about a week ago - both negative.

Symptoms - cramping (daily), aching back, yesterday I had such a bad headache in the afternoon and then felt very very sick, weird full/bloated feeling in my tummy, skin is horrible.

If you're going through the same thing let's buddy up and share/support each other.

Also, if you've been through this I'm keen to hear what you're outcome was.

Baby dust to all readers/posters

Aww I'm sorry for both of you Nerdy and Bluefreckles - I hope you get an answer one way or the other so you know whats going on! I'm very new to this so please bear with me when it comes to abbreviations! xx

NerdyBird · 28/10/2013 16:37

Day 55, i think.

BeginnersLuck · 28/10/2013 18:31

I'm on day 35, normally 26-28 day cycles. ICs (10miu) all said BFN - but not tested since Friday.
I bought a clear blue digital but I'm too scared to use it in case it's also a BFN. How dumb am I?!
I'm just so desperate...

SaraRB123 · 28/10/2013 19:07

BeginnersLuck - I've just messaged you, hope thats ok x

Just popping on to say I'm thinking of everyone on this thread who's still waiting.

bluefreckles · 30/10/2013 18:22

Hey all. I'm still in the same boat and now pretty miserable Sad

Just waiting for my scan next week.

But to be honest, right now I would do anything to be back on the pill. I've got mood swings like you wouldn't believe that are worrying me. Awful AWFUL pain in my left arm. Sicky feelings that come and go. SO tired and unable to concentrate and I am not sleeping well as uncomfortable in all positions!

All in all - not good at the moment!

blue has the GP done a blood test? I think home tests can stop being effective once you're a certain number of weeks pregnant. Also, my mother's pregnancies never showed up on home tests...

bluefreckles · 30/10/2013 18:30

Hi Antoinette. I couldn't get an appointment with GP before my scan

OP posts:
AntoinetteCosway · 30/10/2013 18:39

Wow-where do you live? That's shocking. Our GP almost always sees us the same day we call! Maybe a nurse could do it at the surgery?

bluefreckles · 30/10/2013 18:41

I could have seen a different doctor but I wanted to see the doctor I've seen from the beginning rather than explain it all again...

AntoinetteCosway · 30/10/2013 19:18

Fair enough of course. Hope you get to see one soon.

bluefreckles · 30/10/2013 22:41

So I called NHS direct about the aching arm as I started getting freaked out about ectopic pregnancies. Was told to go straight to Out of Hours at the local hospital - which I did. Once there I was basically told they don't think it's ectopic and that I've obviously just sprained my arm - which I haven't.

Still non the wiser!

Oh blue, how frustrating for you!
I'm still waiting too. Finally used my clear blue and got a BFN. So gutted - I'd assumed I was fertile but now things seem so wonky.

icklekid · 31/10/2013 06:23

I'm in similar position, normally 25 day cycle now a week late, tested on sat (3 days late) and was negative but still no AF...I know I need to test again but so want it to be positive after trying since March...

AntoinetteCosway · 31/10/2013 08:06

That's so irritating for you Blue that they didn't just scan you while you were there. Very irresponsible of them to say it's not an ectopic without actually checking. I'm really shocked actually.

bluefreckles · 31/10/2013 08:11

Hi beginnersluck and icklekid. It's nice to know I'm not the only one. What is your experience of this 'issue'?

OP posts:
bluefreckles · 31/10/2013 08:13

Antoinette - all she did was circle my arm around and then she quickly felt my tummy. she then said she's confident from looking at me that I don't have an ectopic pregnancy as I haven't had any bleeding, I'm not breathless and I haven't had a positive pregnancy test. Made me feel a bit stupid really.

OP posts:
AntoinetteCosway · 31/10/2013 08:25

Don't feel stupid. I can't believe a doctor could so easily put you out of your misery with a blood test or scan and they're making you wait and wait and wait. It's very unfair.

bluefreckles · 31/10/2013 11:53

I'm now waiting in my doctors surgery. Called this morning and said it's an emergency (the only way to get an appointment apparently). I'm not seeing my doctor though so will have to go through to whole thing again.

My arm is so painful now I can barely move it and even getting dressed forced me to tears.

This can't be normal surely and I don't even know if I'm pregnant. This could all be for nothing Sad

Hopefully I'll break out of this soon as it's draining.

Will update after my appointment

Thinking of you blue.

AntoinetteCosway · 31/10/2013 15:47

How did it go at the GP? Hope you're ok.

bluefreckles · 31/10/2013 22:30

GP dismissed any pregnancy and focused on the arm. I now have anti-inflammatory drugs for the arm because the doctor thinks I have a frozen shoulder.

I've decided to give up the idea that I'm pregnant as I've been told so many times I'm not.

Just want to focus on getting rid of the pain in my arm and regulating my hormones.

How is everyone else?.

x

We'll I'm glad your arm is getting sorted out. I'm still flabbergasted that any one of these medical professionals could have just done a blood test in order to set your mind at rest and they haven't, but I hope that they are at least taking seriously the fact that your period has gone missing and will investigate that.

NerdyBird · 01/11/2013 11:24

Hi blue

Glad your arm is getting sorted. You still have your scan on Wednesday don't you?

bluefreckles · 01/11/2013 11:33

Thanks Antoinette.

Nerdy - yes I've got it Wed PM so will update after that.
