ANYONE HAD OHSS THROUGH IVF ?

Hello.

My wife and I have just had IVF and she produced loads of folicules; they actually collected 15 eggs!
We had the embryo transfer Saturday and before that and still now, she has Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome. Her stomach looks like she's 5 months gone and really in a lot of pain and discomfort.
She's struggling to eat and finding it hard to drink plenty of water;but is drinking at least 2 ltrs/day.
I understand this only gets worse, especially if pregnancy occurs!
Has anyone any advise as how to make her more comfortable and less bloated??

Sorry I'm no help for you at all but will bump this message up.
Sorry to hear that this has happened - I have heard that it can be very painful.

Yes I had OHSS - 35 follicles over 2cms (and they were the only ones they bothered to measure). Have you consulted the clinic - she nneds to be monitored. Take things very easy and drink plenty of water (more than you would normally) - her bloods should be taken every other day of they think she is a bad case.

I had it and spent 6 days in hospital because I was so dehydrated from it. I had to have 3 bags of saline a day by IV and I had to drink loads of water, 4 or 5 litres a day. It was very uncomfortable and I felt very ill. You should inform the clinic (if you haven't already) and go to hospital if your dw starts to feel faint or dizzy. There is a danger of blood clots as the blood is thicker than usual because of dehydration so she should really be monitored.

The good news is that I was much better by the time I was released from hospital and there was hardly any bloating at all after about 2 weeks and I was pregnant from that embryo transfer.

Plenty of water is the advice, and make sure that the clinic knows (presumably they do if ET was yesterday).
