Anyone used OPK to test for pregnancy?

I've got tons of OPK sticks - I accidentally dropped the digital bit down the toilet with the first batch so I had to buy another. Anyway, I'm half way through 2ww (been trying since Jan wih one MC in April) and this is the first time I've used OPKs.

So, is it mad to use them now to test for pregnancy? I'm sure I've heard of this before but it was ages ago. Every month I've been testing earlier and earlier and speding a fortune so I thought I might try it this month.

Not used OPKs to test for pregnancy so I don't know how accurate they are but it may be good to keep them for checking ovulation as you can buy pregnancy tests pretty cheaply online. (20 for about £3.50 on ebay). It took me 9 months of using OPKs (cost me £17 each pack of 10!!) before I finally got my BFP!
I am now ttc #2 & have been using the cheap OPKs (rather than the expensive digital ones) & find them just as reliable to predict ovulation as the digital ones that I used when ttc #1

Me, the only time I got a smiley face on my monitor was when I was already pregnant.

Thanks Readynow. I've never been organised enough to buy in a load of pregnancy tests, plus I'm eternally optimistic that I won't need them. When I was pregnant earlier this year, First Response was the only test that showed up so now that's the only one I will use and I generally use at least 3 per month Blush

I probably won't bother using OPKs again after this month either, it only confirmed what I already thought.

Born - that's what I wanted to hear :)

Well I've tried it and got -ve yesterday and 2 +ve today. Stupid because I don't really know what it's telling me. Only 8 dpo but today my boobs are very sore which is unusual for me at this stage.

Ooh interesting! Are you going to get a real test to be sure?

BadCopNoDonut · 12/10/2013 21:26

I got positives on OPK sticks all the way up to 32 weeks pg! (There were a lot of extras in the drawer...)

Angelina77 · 12/10/2013 21:27

I've bought some first response and I'm going to do onein the morning. It's probably a waste though, not due on until Friday.

I've read mixed comments today so I'm trying not to get carried away but the sore boobs thing has thrown me, I never get that unless it's ovulation time.

Just read a comment on another forum that said "the boobs don't lie". Haha, hope that's true.

Congrats Angelina! Now you can use the left over OPKs to reconfirm your BFP for the next few weeks. It's so lovely seeing that little line appear...addictive. Grin

Angelina77 · 13/10/2013 08:55

Thank you, yes I've stared at so many hoping the line will appear, when it actually does it's surreal.

Trying not to get too carried away though, I MC'd in April at 5 weeks.
