Absent AF off Cerazette - Ovarian Cyst causing havoc on Hormones (Duphaston?)

Came off Cerazette on the 7th of September, since then there has not been a withdrawal bleed or a period. Visit to OBGYN on the 26th showed Follicles on Ovaries, doctor felt may possibly turn to Cysts. Guess what? It happened. Since coming off the pill I have seen all sides or hormonal issues. Constant cramping on and off, many signs of pregnancy, horrible pain in my breasts and so on.
This past weekend I spent the majority of the day in A&E with horrible pain and that is when they spotted Mr. Cyst. Tuesday I thought i felt it burst, well this did not happen.
Fast forward to yesterday and I felt horrid, so back to OBGYN, who has now ordered a blood work up (will get results back next Tuesday) to check where my hormone levels are at.
In the meantime I have been given Duphaston to help kill off the Cyst, so I can O and bring AF back and go back to living life normally and begin TTC. On top of this Doc has me on Mastodynon.

All of this aside, has anyone been prescribed this drug before? Does it work?

Hi mawinter. I don't have any advice bar the chats we have had already but just wanted to bump. Really hope it gets sorted soon. Thanks

AlwaysDancing1234 · 11/10/2013 19:46

Hi mawinter, sorry you have had such a terrible time the last few days. Sorry I can't offer any useful advice, but thinking of you and hope things improve very soon.

MrsCM8 · 11/10/2013 19:46

Sorry - don't have any answer but a bit selfishly am wondering about the meds you've been given? It was discovered that I had a big cyst earlier this year - 3 months later and it's not shrunk much but I've been told an op is the only option, but that can ttc without and risk if I don't have an op. We're now ttc but wondered if I should ask about there drugs first. Anyone out there know?

MrsCM8 · 11/10/2013 19:48

Ps hugs to you mawinter - sounds like a rotten weekend and hope pain isn't too bad now

mawinter · 11/10/2013 22:19

Thanks for the kind words, it feels nice to have support someplace. Have not really been able to talk about this with anyone outside of forums, as many of my friends wish to remain childless, or are sick of me talking about such stuff, etc.
MrsCM8 Do you know how big the cyst measures, or what type it is? I have had Cysts on and off through life mainly due to BC and was always told it is possible to try medication therapy to break them up before surgery is even thought of.
I have been given meds previously to break up a rather large cyst years ago measuring the size of a grapefruit and it worked like a charm.

Its worth a shot to ask your doc about meds. I do know from googling however, that the one I have been given was actually discontinued in the UK due to commercial issues (have yet to find which ones though). I know Clomid is another thing often given to breakup cysts.

Hi mawinter, sorry to hear this. It's good that you know now what was going on and it can be sorted out now. Hope the medication does the trick soon for you.

Some sort of good news. This is my second night on the Duphaston, but second week on Mastodynon. Started to feel activity in not one, but both ovaries! :O Decided to wee on a Ovulation Strip even though it is late at night and the second line is getting darker than any other times I tested since coming off the pill. Plus CM is turning toward EWCM again. :)
Hopefully I will ovulate in the next days, but I am undecided yet if I want to give it a go this round with how shit i have felt on and off since coming off BC.
Also I am starting to feel a bit better!

MrsCM8 · 13/10/2013 23:18

Hi mawinter really pleased for you - sounds like a step in the right direction and glad you're feeling a bit better generally. Let us all know what you decide..

MrsCM8 · 13/10/2013 23:22

Ps thanks for the advice re the meds. I'll see how ttc goes for the next little whileand am due for another ovarian scan in a couple of months so if no luck with ttc before then I'll ask about the drugs.

Yesterday (Oddly a Delivery on a Sunday) my new Internet Cheapos arrived and I crammed them in the medicine drawer next to the other tests. Later on in the evening I went to grab an Ovulation strip from the drawer, headed back to the bathroom and dipped the stick. Came back to my desk with the stick and proceeded to wait to read the results. After siting for a minute I looked down at the strip only to realize I dipped the wrong stick!!!!!! The funny thing was that, there was a second faint line!?! I dismissed it because I remembered in some of the reviews to one of the Internet cheapos i ordered (I got two different ones) a few people said they saw Evap lines. Since I could not remember which test it was this morning I decided to dip the other Internet cheapo brand and see if that too showed a second line. Well it did and within the time frame. Since then I have dipped a few different sticks and they all show a second line, except for a First Response test.
The problem is, I am not sure if these are Evaps or really BFP's?

www.canyouseealine.com/view_home_pregnancy_test.php?testID=38428

I took 3 different pics of the same test i tried this morning, the top strip is the one that showed the second line and the lower strip is one that was in progress.
What do you ladies think?

Hi mawinter. Sorry you're still in no man's land Sad.

I think I see a line on the middle picture but not the others? I know you said they're the same test so maybe it's the light/angle?

mawinter · 14/10/2013 08:57

In the grey scale, it is possible to see it on all 3. I'm thinking its too thick to be Evaps. I have done a few tests now (I know funny), 6 from ProMartis, 3 from Aide. They all have these second lines. Not sure what to make of them since a FRER shows negative, very confusing. :/

Argh! You poor thing. It sounds really confusing. Keep us posted!

AlwaysDancing1234 · 19/10/2013 12:19

Are you still around mawinter? Concerned that we haven't had a post from you in a while. Hope you are ok

mawinter · 19/10/2013 20:54

Yeah, I am here. Still waiting on AF. Had some blood drawn and this is where I stand now - www.mumsnet.com/Talk/conception/1882501-Im-so-damn-angry-right-now-Blood-Results

Feeling like I have AF on a daily basis (mega cramps) with no bleeding really is beginning to take an emotional toll on me.

Yesterday we went and shopped for a baby gift for a relatives new little one. Surprisingly it was not as bad as I thought it would be being in a baby store. However today we were supposed to go visit them and I am kind of glad things got canceled, though tomorrow we will visit instead. :/ I'm hoping a tiny bit though that maybe holding a new one will kickstart my body up a bit. LOL
