Hi, I?m new to the board ? hopefully someone can shed light on my situation:

Hubby and I have been TTC since we got married at the beginning of May. My last AF came as normal on 18 May. Since then at two weekly intervals I?ve had two cases of very, very light brownish discharge not enough to use sanitary protection and is stringy at times (sorry for TMI) lasting a couple of days without any cramps - the last of which was 17 June (it has now been 41 days since my last AF which is usually a 26 day cycle).

I?ve not been on the pill for years and have been regular as clockwork for as long as I can remember (am now 29). Have tried two home tests (one last week and one last Monday) both BFN.

Any chance that I could be PG? Doc reckons that it could be a) pregnancy b) an infection or c) just a coincidence. I?m booked in again tomorrow for a pregnancy test and some swabs!

(and if I am, will the swabs do any damage?)

Any advice greatly appreciated ladies x

Only a test can tell you
The stringy stuff you describe could have been your fertile cervical fluid, it can be stained with brown/pink fomr time to time.

I guess tomorrow you'll find out
Any other symptoms you think?

SoupDragon · 28/06/2006 16:23

Why on earth haven't you done a test??

eldestgirl · 28/06/2006 16:26

If a test hasn't shown a BFP by day 41, I personally wouldn't be optimistic, especially if your cycle is normally 26 days.
Vaginal swabs will not do any damage. They will know your history and just sweep the exterior of the cervix for cells to test for any possible infections.

she has, soupy, one just two days ago.

they're both negative.

I've been feeling nauseous at times mostly when I've just woken up and the odd evening, I feel like my AF is due to arrive as I feel really heavy in my pelvis area, I burst into tears on Saturday night as the steak I was cooking didn't turn out right and I've just generally been feeling 'weird' and not myself.
Just seems odd that all this has been happening (and the changes to my usual cycle) since we have started TTC x

I guess I'll have to wait and see what the doc says tomorrow.

Thanks for the advice.

Good luck MrsTom - hope you get your BFP

Thanks.
In the meantime I'll just have to enjoy all the practice!

it's amazing how many cycles go from normal regular as clockwork ones to iregular ones almost over night when ttc. Imo if the tests are negative, then you're not pregnant, although gp will tell you for certain. It's possible that as you're ttc you've maybe been more stressed about everything and stress can delay ovulation, and consequently delay the arrival of your af, or it could just be that you've skipped a period, there are many on these boards who have been told by GP's that women skip periods sometimes for no apparent reason. This happened to me a couple of months ago and even the gp told me I was pregnant and it turned out not to be the case.

hi all - new to this! I wondered if anyone had any advice?

I've done 3 pregnancy tests, all negative, been to see my doc and he seems to think I'm worrying over nothing. I've worked out my cycle (can you believe I didn't even know!) and I think I've tested too early.

Is it possible that even with negative tests that I could still be pregnant. Feel bloated, like I'm about to start my p but nothing for nearly 2 weeks now. No other symptoms, apart from slight nausea for the past couple of evenings. Advice gratefully received!!

ps - never been preggers before and we've decided to actively try xx

Wannabe, you are so right! It's amazing how you can convince yourself that your boobs are sore, you are urinating more often, you feel bloated and emotional, don't fancy coffee, have a metallic taste in your mouth...and then AF arrives.
Jan, you could be pregnant as you can get false negatives to start with if you test too early. But if you are still getting BFNs two weeks after AF is due, the test is probably right and there is another reason for the delayed AF.
