I am thinking about having another baby later on this year and as I am quite organised(!) would like to know exactly when (and if) I conceive. With ds1 I planned him for exactly when I wanted him although he was 5 weeks early!!

I would also quite like to try for a girl, although I would love a boy as well,so was wondering if there is a website to show timing of ovulation etc. I seem to remember that I did this for ds1 and conceived one month later!

hello

im not sure about your first question but i saw a very intersting program on BB3 about how to conceive boy/girl. they said that as well as timing being important, what you ate whilst tring to conceive helped determine the sex of your child. apparantly male sperm is lower and does not live as long as female sperm (hope i got this right - i was tired) male sperm survives longer in an alkaline environment so to help conceive a boy you should create an alkaline environment inside to do so, eat white bread, green veg, red wine, avoid dairy etc... and for girls eat brown bread and lots of dairy etx... there are supposed to be lots of website on this. i can say that i always drink milk, glas a day with cheese etc and i had a girl - not sure how true it all is but its worth a go!

Well FEMALe sperm survive longer, while male sperm are the fastest swimmers so have sex a couple of days before ov. To detect ov, I'm sure you;ve read the ttc thread but, but an OPK helps although expensive (Ovulation predictor test) and also taking your BBT temp every day will confirm ov has happened. Other natural signs are cervicla mucus goes like egg white when you're about to ovulate and you might get twinges. Have a look at fertilityfriend for a downloadable booklet on ttc!!!!

lATE OVULATION QUESTION? I have recently discovered using tests that I ovulate very late in my cycle. Up to 5 days before my period is due. Is this normal? Can I still conceive naturally? Any advice welcome, thanks.

Hi collision - I can highly recommend a fantastic book - Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler (you can get it on Amazon). it explains everything you need to know about your cycle (some of which can be real eye-opener - I kept saying to myself - oh THAT's why...! )and how to tell when you're ovulating. It took dh & I 3 mths to conceive using the advice in this book - might have been quicker but we were trying for a girl which means the timing is trickier! Incidentally, the book also helped us NOT to conceive before we were ready without using any other method of contraception.

If you conceived that quickly first time it is most likely (but not certain) that you will concieve quite fast again. Personally, I would recommend just doing it when you fancy. Your body tends to know when it is ovulating and you are likely to feel most sexy and be most sexually attractive at that time. Also it's more fun (IMO). And you can concieve way outside the normal windows which you normally hear about. My friend has conceived twice the day after her period ended. Also, I have a boy and am expecting a girl this time with absolutely no difference in diet whatsoever, so am very sceptical about this one. But of course, it is absolutely up to you. Have fun trying!
