Do you have regular cycles and you know how many days they are? Do you know which day of that cycle you ovulate?
If you know those, then it's the number of days between ovulating and the first day your period arrives.
It varies with every woman but does not vary between months. For example, if your period arrives later than usual it is because you ovulated later than usual, but you LP will remain the same.
Hope that helps. There's a wealth of information on Internet all about it!

Argh right, well I never know when I ovulate so I guess will never know how long my luteal phase is thanks for the info :)

Well, depending on whether you want to know there are lots of things you can try to work it out. Maybe the most convenient way is to start keeping a closer eye on your cervical mucus. Some women have little and find it hard to notice while other women have bundles of the stuff.
As a general rule of thumb it normally happens towards the middle of the cycle.

I have tried opk's and tried the mucus thing but can never tell haha as long as I have one long enough to hold a pregnancy then ill be happy ill will have to try figure this out!

If you still have that data, stick it into fertility friend and that should work it out for you.

They say temping is the thing to really do, but I find it really difficult and my temps seem to fluctuate loads.

Good luck.

That one thing I've not tried yet maybe see how things go and then try that

Yeh, it's my first month of trying it because only your temp can show you if you really did ovulate and release an egg!! I didn't know that until last month because I'd just been using opk's and had been having normal results around the right time. I shit myself and started temping but I hate it and not sure how long I'll be able to keep if up. I've also had a cold this month so that hasn't helped. I have Fertitlity Friend as I app on my phone and really recommended it. Use it even if you decide not to temp. If only you record your periods it's still helpful.

Ill look into it thanks for that!!

Fingers crossed you get a BFP soon :)

Are you doing it on phone or Internet? It takes a while to get used to it. I just started to put my period dates in, then built it up like that. Click on the date you want to note, then click on data and it got click down menus to chose from.

After you've recorded as much as possible, click on details and then FF will start giving you analysis.

There is a key to the symbols towards the bottom.

I only use it on my phone BTw. X

On my phone but just can't get me head round it haha

Stick with it. It's got loads of reading info on it too. I have been worrying as I only managed sex on my first peak day and not before, but afte reading stuff on FF I feel a bit better. It's the second peak day today and I have no idea if I've o'd yet, but going to try and dtd again tonight.

Lp is between yur ovulation and af, so if you temp you'll know. I'm using ovufriend, more user friendly than ff
