Advice on a possible faint BFP

Its been a while since I have last posted on here. So here goes... Last week I realised that AF should be due any time. I started to get usual symptoms (backache, bloated...etc) but nothing happened. Said to the DH last week if AF is a no show by Monday ill take a test. It never even crossed my mind that I would seriously have to take a test as DH and I are not ttc at the moment (although it was on the cards for next year) so over the weekend the backache has got worse but still no AF. Took a very cheap test today and saw what looked to me like the faintest of faint bfp. I think it might be a faulty test. If it was a true bfp would the line not be really dark as im pretty sure i must be about 5 days late now! I have 2 dc's at the moment so you would think I knew all the signs and symptoms but both they both took a lot of ttc and so i was pos all the time.

Can lower back pain be a sign of bfp or is it just a sign that af is going to turn up and be very nasty. Im so confused how to feel right now as this was not something I even considered I would be doing right now. Althoguh the thought of another dc makes me :) it would be such a shock!!!

Thoughts everyone please??

thanks in advance

Hiya! You sound very similar to me!! I'm only one day late but had awful AF pains at the weekend including lower backache ( and still here). I tested this morning and a faint line appeared so will be testing with a clear blue digi tmrw!

Good luck and I'm a firm believer in fate, so if you are, it was meant to happen :)

Hi

Not sure if this is what you want to hear but...
when I was TTC I was told that there is no such thing as a "false positive" result, because the test will only react positively in the presence of the pregnancy hormone. The price of the test is probably reflected in the faint result.

You're right, usually tests are darker the further on you are. The cheaper tests will have less of the reactive chemical, making them cheaper, but making the result fainter.
You can get false negatives (because a faulty test kit is not sensitive enough), but if the test reacts positively it means its picked up some pregnancy hormone.
Hope that helps and makes sense??? If another test is positive then hope that its a nice shock (once you've kinda got used to it a bit!)

Thanks for the replies :)
I had some very light spotting this afternoon so thought af was definatley here but that has completely stopped now and im full of crippling back pain again. I probably should of said that I am never normally late for my af ...always a few days early if anything. Im going to leave it a few more days and if af still hasnt shown then ill take another test...... It if is a bfp it would be a very welcome happy shock but still a shock :)
Let us know how you get on lucyfluff. Good luck hope you get the result you want :)
