Considering booking a skiing break in February/ march. It will be my first ever skiing holiday so don't know how competent I shall be. I am going to TTC from December. In theory ( unlikely) I could be pregnant by the time of the holiday. Should I just go for it? Am I being reckless?

Book the holiday.

invicta · 27/09/2013 21:22

Check the travel insurance before you book.

JollySleepyGiant · 27/09/2013 21:24

You can ski before 12 weeks pregnant. Just go for it.

ElBombero · 27/09/2013 21:27

No way! Deffo book the holiday but save TTC till you get back. You don't want that kinda hol when in 1st trimester a) cos of risk if you fall etc b) you may be sick as a dog c) you can't drink / eat certain foods.

Just wait a few months but don't sacrifice your dream hol

ScariestFairyByFar · 27/09/2013 21:28

I agree wait ttc on holiday but not before

MmeLindor · 27/09/2013 21:29

The chance of you conceiving in first month may be slim, but it's there.

My worry wouldn't be skiing but that if there were any early pregnancy complications, would you be a) covered by insurance and b) miserable that you weren't home.

Why not wait and TTC when you come back from holiday so you can have a fab time and drink some yummy vin chaud?

ThoraNomiki · 27/09/2013 21:34

Go for it. It might take a while to conceive and you can't put the other aspects of your life on hold. If you do get pregnant straight away you can still enjoy the holiday - snuggle up in a cabin with a hot chocolate and a book or go for snowy walks Smile

ubik · 27/09/2013 21:35

I'd maybe concentrate on the shag snd then book it afterwards? You might make a mistake otherwise

Sleepyhoglet · 27/09/2013 21:39

Its a holiday with friends and they want to book soon hence the pressure. DH won't even be going :(
Thanks you guys for the support!

Book the holiday - skiing is brilliant!!

However, I would delay TTC until you are back. As someone who did get pregnant on her first cycle, it can and does happen!! And as has been said, even if skiing is safe there is a very real chance that you may feel like utter sh*t Grin I am currently 14weeks gone and have been ill from 6 weeks with bleeding and sickness and the only place I have felt like being is in bed!! I have spent most of my time in a heap on the bathroom floor crying Smile I have only managed to work 3 days in the last 5 weeks due to how bad early pregnancy has been for me Smile The last thing you want to do is pay a fortune for a wonderful skiing holiday, which is a chance of a lifetime holiday and spend your time feeling like utter rubbish holed up in a cabin, starving and thirsty because you can't eat or drink without throwing it back up, hugging a sick bowl and wishing you could be in the comfort of your own home Grin

Obviously that is worst case scenario and your life can't be put on your hold, but TTC can for a few months I think. Go and enjoy your wonderful holiday because who knows, it may be the last one you take in a long, long time where you and your partner can just enjoy being together Smile

Writerwannabe83 · 27/09/2013 21:46

Just seen the update about your partner not going.....but the rest of my post still stands Smile

It will be your last girly holiday for a very long time, you need to make sure you enjoy it x

lighthousesea · 27/09/2013 22:12

In think book it! Just make sure you have good travel insurance.

Like others have said its fairly unlikely to concieve on the first month. I don't think you should put life on hold. You are more likely to concieve if you are relaxed and not trying too hard!

Sparrowlegs248 · 27/09/2013 22:41

Oh writer bless you!! Hope it improves soon!!

OP - delat ttc til after hols.

allchatnicknamesgone · 28/09/2013 08:34

If you are desperate to get going, why don't you try and get your friends to book the holiday late Jan or early Feb, then if you delay TTC, it won't seem like too much of a wait?

If you can't do that, I'd probably delay TTC.

It's unlikely you'll get preg the first cycle, but it would be pretty rubbish to be on an active holiday with sickness. It's not like you can lie on a sunbed.

Lots of mixed thoughts on here, but up to you. Personally I've never been skiing, but I wish I'd had a crack before a child because it does mean that sort of holiday needs a different kind of planning!

I'm sure you'll make the right decision for you.
