Controversial, but I quite like her! Haven't seen this week's yet so no spoilers please! I quite liked Howard and I was pmsl when they were trying to explain to Mary what hemp was last week.

IWantOneNow · 03/10/2013 13:09

Wow - what a day yesterday. I had my endo scratch (OWWWW!) and started my Buserilin. The endoscratch blumin' hurt Shock - but the pain was all over after about 10 mins, drove home and treated myself to an afternoon in front of TV and a little afternoon kip (can't beat them!) - i had taken the afternoon off work as annual leave, so i was damned if i was going to work even though i did feel ok.

Then at night just before bed i did my first injection - that wasn't too bad, just hurt a little but nothing to moan about (especially in comparison to the endoscratch!). So now i'm officially on the way, feel like i'm officially 'doing' IVF now that i'm on the 'liitle fuckers!' Smile. So only another 'however many weeks' until the outcome (got to keep focused on the end goal - visualisation!) Grin.

Crossing fingers for you llw for Friday, no long now Brew and Cake x

Llw2 · 03/10/2013 13:21

Well done Iwant, they really aren't too bad. I found the hardest part taking them out with me when we had plans. I did mine at 9pm which meant i often felt like a junky in a pub toilet injecting myself. Just keep your eyes on the prize and it will whizz by x

Badhairday76 · 03/10/2013 13:59

Ha ha - that will so be me, Llw2 I love the fact IVF didn't stop you going to the pub! Iwant - the endo scratch sounds grim. Well done for getting through it and for starting the injections. I am envious!

Hello buddies! Just quickly on the LP vs SP discussion. I did LP, as it is standard, I have a good reserve and they already knew from SO+IUI that my own cycle is really quick, and we struggled to reliably get 2 eggs for IUI on 100 gonal-f. LP on 150 gonal-f gave me 15 eggs, 10 embryos, 1 chem diffment, 1 BFP from FET and another 5 frosties. So I am happy I tried. Although when DRing I vouched never to do it again, as it completely wiped me out, both physically and emotionally. It was CRAP. But specially if this one sticks worth it.

Good luck tomorrow llw.

Well done on the firsh injection wash.

Thinking of you and cheering. But working is enough to completely wipe me out at the moment I guess that's my first symptom.

BrookerC · 03/10/2013 16:25

Hi buddies!
Sorry for the lack of posts from me - I'm camping in wet Snowdonia at the mo & am struggling for any internet action. You'd think I would be grateful for a break but I'm missing you guys & Dr Google
iwant looks like we are stabbing buddies Smile I started on Tuesday. Looking forward to some junkie action in the pub over the next few weeks' Grin
Thinking of you llw for tomorrows OTD. Keeping everything crossed for you lovely x
Good luck tom wish with your FET. How many are you having put back? x
Thanks for all the info on LP. Very useful. I had a migraine yesterday Hmm but put it down to a particularly shit AF -am now wondering if my first jab could have caused it...
Sorry for lack of personals - on my phone & can't scroll back.
Due back in the modern world in a couple of days!!

Stillhopingstillhere · 03/10/2013 16:36

Hi all

Still keeping everything crossed for you llw.

I will soon be stabbing, no sign if AF yet but period like pains for fear it will be sooner rather than later - could really do with holding off until next Tuesday! Think four days late is a bit optimistic. I know worrying is supposed to delay it, we'll I've been worrying for England so why doesn't it feel like it will be late?!
I think I'm going to stop with parents whilst dh away, as they aren't too far away so I can still get ds to school and I feel a bit better then about having the jabs. I'm worried how the hormones will affect my blood sugars, it's a bit of an unknown quantity, and if it does cause a problem I'd prefer not to be on my own. It might be fine, it's hard to know.
I do feel slightly daunted going to learn how to mix the menopur on my own, is it really fiddly? It sounds it! I just know I will be all panicky and do it wrong!

Hope all goes well tomorrow wish, you'll be PUPO too! Hurrah!

Stillhopingstillhere · 03/10/2013 16:53

Also how long does it take to get all bloated from the stimms? I'm asking you ladies because I trust your advice more than the clinics since you've been through it! It's not immediate is it?

It's so hard trying to plan life around an ivf cycle. Were people able to carry on as normal until egg collection? I'm hoping to carry on as usual until then.

Also can someone reassure me again about how safe ivf is and how they won't let me die?! I have an irrational fear, I'm going to be a nightmare aren't I??

BrookerC · 03/10/2013 17:04

still staying with your parents sounds like a sensible move. I think you will be fine though. The thought of it all is much worse that actually doing it. I've not had the menopur but found the cetrotide ok once you get the hang of the powder dissolving & getting rid of the air bubbles! I was pathetic with needles before I started ivf but it's amazing how normal it becomes. Don't forget we are here for hand holding & support when you need it Smile Hope AF holds off for you!
nobeer there are recent studies linking high progesterone before EC and/or ET with poor implantation rates. It's something to do with the synchronicity of lining, hormones & embryo that's as much as I know! x

Stillhopingstillhere · 03/10/2013 17:12

Thanks Brooker!
AF is here, I knew it! Have rung clinic and left a message. I'm not scared of the needles so much as having some hideous allergic reaction or my blood sugars suddenly dropping.

Looks like I will have to go to clinic tomorrow, it also says I have to pay for the treatment then. Slightly worried as although we will pay it straight off from savings it will initially go on cc, I think my cc has a £6k limit! Also think the bank might have a fit if it goes from barely used to having £6k put on it!

BrookerC · 03/10/2013 17:14

X post still. Listen - you are going to be fine. The clinic do not want a death on their stats - they are not going to let anything happen to you!! Seriously, they know about your diabetes so they will monitor you more closely than most. I have not heard of anyone dying from an adverse reaction to the treatment. There will always be a small risk with any medical procedure (EC/ET) , but it is very small.
Also, I continued my life as normal throughout both cycles. I work full time ridiculous hours sometimes and I didn't change anything except going to bed early, spoiling myself & letting DH spoil me. Remember your goal & try to focus on that xx

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 03/10/2013 17:18

Still, I had no actual visible bloating, but felt the 11mature follies in my left ovary a lot. All it did was stopping me running! During DRing I felt terrible and had a week of exhaustion, depression and headaches! Then I did not function at work! I worked thru it all. EC off, half day for transfer. That was it.

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 03/10/2013 17:20

Btw sounds like a good plan! I feel totally knackered so no personals! Have some generalised good wishesinstead

BrookerC · 03/10/2013 17:23

driz think that's what I'm worrying about for this cycle. I was on SP for the first 2 cycles & had few symptoms other than tiredness. Not looking forward to this DR malarkey. SP sounds like a breeze in comparison!

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 03/10/2013 17:28

Brooker, I did have an extreme reaction, and have done to several hormones before! I got it on the pill and even on just menopur, so part of it is me! You might be absolutely fine!

Stillhopingstillhere · 03/10/2013 17:33

I'm scared of migraines even though they've assured me it's less likely on short profile. The pill caused me to have migraines though so I am a bit worried...
I guess I'm just going to have to see how it goes. Quite honestly if it causes migraines I will have to stop taking it because they were truly horrific to the point where I couldn't speak or remember where I lived!

nobeer · 03/10/2013 19:23

Still I had a couple of migraines which was a bit crap. But I echo what Brooker says, they're going to keep a very careful eye on you. If you feel the slightest bit out of the ordinary, get on the phone to them and I'm sure they'll want you in straight away for blood tests. I did get OHSS so they kept a close eye on me, reduced my doses of hormones immediately, and then froze the embryos to give me time to recover. You're going to be fine, focus on the end result.

I have already admitted defeat, it's true. I'm only doing this because dh wants to if I'm honest. I don't think there will be a baby at the end of the treatment, I know it can and does work but I just can't see it. Sounds mad, dh says Im mad, but I can't explain it. I just "know."

Nobeer were your migraines caused by the stimming or down regging?

nobeer · 03/10/2013 19:59

Still I think I had a couple when I started downregging. I also get them every month although I haven't had one this time round! I either get one just before my period or just when it finishes. After EC I went on the pill microgynon to regulate my cycle before FET and I think I had one in 6 weeks.

Are you really sure you want to do IVF? If you haven't paid yet, it's not too late to decide not to.
