Hey IVFers,
I'm usually on the Elderberry thread but it's sinking in that it's probably going to take a team of scientists rather than just my husband to get me pg. I'm not to the point yet where I'm truly OK with that, but then again I'm not sure I ever could be, so we might just need to get on with things.
I've lurked on your threads for ages creepster alert but I haven't seen much talk about how you chose your particular clinics. We were hoping to start IVF in Dec, but I'm not sure that's realistic - we've not chosen one yet, and I think I read that oftentimes clinics are shut around Christmas/New Year's, so starting in Dec might not even be possible. Is that true?
When you chose your clinic, how did the process start? ie how many consultations were required before you actually started cycling? Were costs in line with whatever was advertised, or are others right in saying to expect 2-3x the cost quoted per cycle? How'd you choose your clinic - based on price? Success rates? Word of mouth? I'm overwhelmed, and don't really have a starting point.
I'm seeing a private consultant now who's found a polyp so I need to sort that before we're allowed to go further. At the moment we are "unexplained"; I'm 38 and we aren't eligible for NHS funding, and we're in SW London. Not sure if I should be crying in the corner for fear of what's heading my way, or shaking out the couch cushions looking for spare change to fund it all
