I think the estrogen is finally doing something... TMI but I have EWCM and sex is no longer beyond the realms of possibility. So fingers crossed my lining has plumped up nicely. If it has transfer could be as soon as Friday, which would be perfect, or maybe Monday.
Will feedback tomorrow and let you know how I get on.

BrookerC · 27/10/2013 20:49

Thanks iwant. I'm in first thing so will update as soon as I can.
fabbie did you go glamping with DH or friends? I went earlier in the year with my best friends as it was fabulous darling! The weather was shocking but that didn't stop us having fun

Fabuluce · 28/10/2013 06:57

Glamping was with DH in a yurt and it was stunning! Lovely big bed, wood fired stove, reindeer furs for extra warmth! Own (outside of course) big and our own outside steaming hot shower!

BrookerC · 28/10/2013 07:10

Wow that sounds amazing! Was it a 'private' outside shower Or was the wicked witch in town?

nobeer · 28/10/2013 07:24

hi all, sorry not been very active. I had lovely weekend with DP visiting my family.

bugger I think I'm going to be having the same embryo tests as you, looking at that princely sum! I think we'll have to pay ours beforehand. But like you, i'm worrying about moving first. only a week to go! I'll prob pay it some time in Nov, when AF comes.

Someone else was asking about microgynon. I had a migraine or two, but that's normal for me. Apart from that, nothing else.

Hello to everyone else, I've got to dash - got hellish day at work.

Just out of clinic. All looking good with my slow follies. Largest 16mm but about 8/9 smaller ones so giving them another couple of days to catch up. Back in Weds & expect to trigger weds/thurs for ET fri/sat. Eeek!
Hope everyone's ok. x

BrookerC · 28/10/2013 08:49

EC ffs!

talulahbelle · 28/10/2013 10:14

Hi All

Scan went perfectly today - I have a healthy looking and non spotting triple lining measuring 6.6mm. Transfer is booked for next Monday - so now the praying one of our embies defrosts healthily. DH has been delegated into booking the flights.

I'm not sure if it was the pregnacare, extra selenium, extra protein or brazil nuts but I'm continuing with all of them just in case.

This really is a rollercoaster isn't it?
Brooker all being well we could have ET on the same day if you get EC on Friday - or are you going to blasto? Either way we'll be sharing a 2ww
nobeer I hope your day at work goes smoothly - much storm disruption round your way? Ouch at the cost of those tests for you and bugger Worth it though if it leads to success.
Fabuluce Glamming sounds lush, I am hoping to persuade DH we need to have a trip like that next year.

I hope everyone else is safe and dry out of the wind and rain today :)

Fabuluce · 28/10/2013 10:25

Private-ish Brooks - you can look out of it whilst abluting but the does mean that others could potentially see in! All much of a muchness tho as no shenanigans were on due to AF Hmm Next time.....

Tallulah that's great news!! Keep up the good lining work Grin

no storms in my neck of the woods talulah, just sunshine and blue skies! And just lots of exams and reports to write.

BrookerC · 28/10/2013 12:54

OMG

SidneyBristow · 28/10/2013 13:21

Hey IVFers,
I'm usually on the Elderberry thread but it's sinking in that it's probably going to take a team of scientists rather than just my husband to get me pg. I'm not to the point yet where I'm truly OK with that, but then again I'm not sure I ever could be, so we might just need to get on with things.

I've lurked on your threads for ages creepster alert but I haven't seen much talk about how you chose your particular clinics. We were hoping to start IVF in Dec, but I'm not sure that's realistic - we've not chosen one yet, and I think I read that oftentimes clinics are shut around Christmas/New Year's, so starting in Dec might not even be possible. Is that true?

When you chose your clinic, how did the process start? ie how many consultations were required before you actually started cycling? Were costs in line with whatever was advertised, or are others right in saying to expect 2-3x the cost quoted per cycle? How'd you choose your clinic - based on price? Success rates? Word of mouth? I'm overwhelmed, and don't really have a starting point.

I'm seeing a private consultant now who's found a polyp so I need to sort that before we're allowed to go further. At the moment we are "unexplained"; I'm 38 and we aren't eligible for NHS funding, and we're in SW London. Not sure if I should be crying in the corner for fear of what's heading my way, or shaking out the couch cushions looking for spare change to fund it all Sad

Fabuluce · 28/10/2013 13:21

Brooks we are supposed to be doing it in November but are thinking of delaying it until march as we are (hopefully) moving house in February and the numbers are seriously tight. That way I will also have the opportunity to get back to being fighting fit again (I've lost it all w but with the last 10 months of ivf etc plus I would have no excuse for not being fully involved with the packing, lifting, stressing etc!! I know what I'm like - any excuse!!!

Blimey - I am a bit slow for this thread….just like my follies day 5 scan for me today and not a lot happening. They are giving me a couple more days before upping the Gonal F.

Thanks for the menopur and Centrotide tips.

Choco - no nausea on Microgynon - I do turn into the psycho-bitch-from-hell on it though (thankfully Cilest was much better!)

Buggerlugs - we are having PGS this time and had to pay when we paid the IVF fee (after baseline scan)

Good luck for tomorrow iwant

Bikes and Brooker - I hope my cycle buddies are doing well Smile

Talulah - everything crossed for your ET.

Sidney - The world is your oyster clinic wise being in London. Where do you work? I chose mine based primarily on how easier it was to get to for the numerous scans and bloods tests. My clinic does close over Christmas but to be honest by the time you have had all your tests and consultations I would have thought you would be looking at really getting going Jan/Feb any way. Everyone is different in terms of what is required. I have PCOS and don't ovulate so it was apparent from the get go. We tried Clomid and letrozole which didn't work and then went straight for IVF. Our 'journey' from the first consultation to BFP was only 6 months but that is incredibly quick.

SidneyBristow · 28/10/2013 14:23

Vanilla we've had all the investigations already, some done 2x so that results would be 'current' (within 6 mos). I guess I have had a naive idea that I would just book a consultation and go in for a review of all our results, and start the drugs regimen at the start of my next cycle? Is that not how it goes? We've already had a fertility MOT with our private consultant, who suggested we try clomid but his 'gut feeling' was that we'd need IVF as there was no physical reason I've not gotten pg yet.

Buggerlugs I know what you mean about looking for the right atmosphere. I want to find someplace where I feel safe in the knowledge that I'm in the right hands, that all I have to do is be sensible and turn up to appointments and soldier through the drugs regimen, and that good things will follow. Right now I feel like I'm in danger of choosing based on price, and who has the most attractive website Hmm

IWantOneNow · 28/10/2013 14:56

Nice job on growing your follies Brooker Smile. Understand the extra couple of days, better to do that now and then have the EC, rather than rush the EC now and not have as many follies to collect - fingers crossed for those other little'uns to catch up.
Welcome Sidney - can't comment on clinics down south as i'm a northerner. I had 2 clinics to choose from basically, but im in a lucky position as they are both at the forefront of technologies in this area, so i knew i would be in good hands. 1 is within a hospital and another is a purpose built building - but that didn't really matter to me, in fact i felt more comfortable being in a hospital with it all - but each to their own. The prices were basically the same as each other. The one i went for in the end is between my home and my work place, so i could do the earliy morning appointments without any hassle - hope that helps x

Welcome Sidney! If you want a lovely experience then I can recommend Zita west. Definitely not one of the cheapest and I had to wait 3 months for an appointment with George originally but once that was done we started our first round of long protocol 6 weeks later. We chose Zita because of their whole body approach so their price includes a nutritionist appointment, two counselling sessions plus they have acupuncturists and hypnotherapists on site. All the staff are lovely, sympathetic and the waiting room has calming music and smells which is always nice Smile There is never a sense of stress in there at all which I find is a perfect environment when waiting for scans etc. It's just past Harley street so was easy to get to for me originally as I used to work about 20 mins away so getting there for bloods and scans was easy. I now have to commute from the northern Home Counties but as I'm not working it's still relatively trouble free to get to plus gives me the opportunity to get some walking exercise in!

Mittensonkittens · 28/10/2013 17:42

Looking forward to your scan news llw I agree being sick is a good sign! Even if not much fun!

brooker hope the follicles keep ok growing, slow but steady wins the race and all that :-)

Hi sidney I still haven't really accepted that we are going to have to go down this route and in theory I'm starting this week! I chose the clinic that was nearest tbh. Just because I don't have the time to be driving back and forth for hours. It's still nearly an hour away. I'm not wild about it though, I have to be honest. I can't say I feel like I have a huge amount of confidence that they know what they are doing. They don't seem massively sensitive or sympathetic either. But I really have very little choice unfortunately.

Hello everyone else!

I'm going back to the clinic this week to see if the giant cyst has gone, I can't decide whether I want it to have gone or not. I keep reminding myself that's it's really rare to die of Ivf complications, unfortunately I am a pessamistic over the top worrier and I have convinced myself that something terrible will happen and ds will be left motherless. I think it's partly because I don't feel that the clinic really know what they are doing!

Mittensonkittens · 28/10/2013 17:43

Should have been Hmm

IWantOneNow · 28/10/2013 19:29

Unfortunately not Buggerim in Nottingham. X

SidneyBristow · 28/10/2013 19:57

Buggerlugs CARE is on my short list, but I can't find a drugs package price on their website - am assuming it's in line with everyone else's?

Fab the ZW clinic wasn't on my list but I'll look into it now, sounds like they're worth consideration! Am envisioning a fab spa environment where I could book an Aromatherapy Associates facial after egg transfer Wink

Mittens I struggle with pessimistic thoughts but am really making an effort to not give into them - but it's so tempting. In my case I'm more concerned about side effects (physical and mental) but if I had children I'd probably have more dire consequences in mind. I hope your appointment goes well Thanks hopefully it'll ease your fears rather than confirm them!

Vanilla the idea of having all this behind me, with a BFP under my belt - what a dream. Thanks for sharing, I hadn't realized your timeframe was so short - and even if it's unusually quick, I think it'll help me mentally to keep in mind that sometimes, the process can work quickly Thanks
