How do I calculate for next cycle?

I'm usually incredibly regular, every 27 days on the dot AF turns up. We're on cycle #2 ttc #2 and I took about six months to fall with DS so not expecting anything. First cycle my period was 4 days late when it did start it took ages to get going, very light period for a few days then some heavy bleeding. This month my period was due to next Wednesday but on Friday I started some very light bleeding when I wipe which is continuing.

My question is firstly, why would I suddenly have a late period and now an early one and secondly, when trying to calculate my days for next month do I count from Friday or whenever I properly start bleeding?

Hi soultrain, have you done a test? I would be tempted to rule out pregnancy as it's very common to have light bleeding (and I love to poas!!). Otherwise, I guess I would count first day of bleeding as cd1, but I'm not an expert so hopefully sometime more knowledgeable will be along soon!

It is typical isn't it? My body is the same, really regular but as soon as i start ttc my cycle goes all over the place. It is just to mess with your head a bit more.

i recommend you read up on how to use your cervical mucus to identify if you are in the fertile days or not. The book "taking charge of your fertility" is often recommended but you can also use good old dr google.

Whenever you start bleeding, first day of bleeding is always cd1.

I understood it first day of proper flow - so the day when you need a tampon/pad/towel/mooncup. Taking Charge of Your Fertility is brilliant to follow up what the poster above said - just a tad expensive. Dr Google can be good too so long as you can resist the urge to diagnose yourself with anything and everything!

I would also recommend the book, I'm in the middle of reading it got it 2nd hand from amazon for£8.
