Working shifts and ttc

I had a pre-ovulation appt with my fertility accupuncturist yesterday morning. I went straight from night shift with my bf in tow. The first thing she said was "Have you both really been at work all night?! There's no wonder you're not conceiving; with your shifts, your body doesn't know whether it's coming or going!"

So... I'm a bit more worried now Hmm. I mean, I've read about the supposed impact of shift work on fertility before, but that was ages ago and I just kinda put it out of my mind, thinking well I'm young, fit, and healthy and I bounce back from nasty shifts pretty well... But what do other people think? Do any other shift-workers have methods of counter-acting the effects of long shifts at funny hours and always waking and sleeping at different times? Thanks in advance Smile

Hi RaRaz,

I wouldn't have though that it would be too much of a problem? I used to work on a ward of about 40 female staff (nurses and support workers) and there were only 2 of us without children Smile

It wasn't a very helpful comment of your Acupuncturist to make was it? Hmm

How often do you and your boyfriend work nights?

I found the best solution there was to the whole night shits, long working patterns palaver which was to leave and get another job Grin
