Laparascopy before IVF?

Hi

Anyone here have laparascopic surgery? I'm having a cyst (that may be a dermoid, or may be an endometrioma) removed on Oct 5th. Wondering how long the recovery period is and if anyone has any experience of IVF post-lap? How long did you have to wait before proceeding with IVF? We've got an international move in early Nov and our assisted conception unit is pushing us to do IVF before we go, but my gut is telling me it's too soon. Dr is suggesting I go on the pill with my next period (coming tomorrow most likely) so that I'll already be down-regged before the procedure in order to proceed with IVF asap.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Hi, I had a laparoscopy a few month back for a demoid cyst. Pretty straight forward procedure, was operated at 8pm as an emergency as they thought it was what was causing me pain at the time. And out at 12pm the following day. Have a 2 inch scar at my pubic bone and 1 inch scar right abdomen and my belly button was opened up. The docs told me one week recovery! But it's really not. For such small scars it was quite painful and reduced mobility for at least a week. I was on tramadol for pain. My belly button took 6 weeks to heal as it gets infected quite easily as the depth of it, other 2 scars healed within a few weeks. I was told it wouldn't affect fertility/pregnacy and it was only removed as I was in pain.

Can't help with the ivf though, sorry.

I had an ectopic which diagnosed endo. Two months later I had a lap to check the viability of my remaining tube - it was blocked. Six months later I went to a private fertility clinic (the delay was down to DH and I needing to come to terms with everything and make a decision). Two months later I was pregnant.
From ectopic to pregnant via IVF in under a year.

My consultant was happy to refer me for IVF as soon as I felt ready after the second lap, but we wanted to wait a little and make sure it felt like the right decision.

Hi I had lap performed last year mid December to remove an endometrioma and we started ivf in mid May this year. At the time the gynae said we could start ivf pretty much as soon as possible, the only thing that delayed us was we were changing clinics at the time and we also took a month out to go on holiday. Hope this helps & good luck!

I waited 3 months between lap to remove cyst and Ivf. The clinic would have let me start Ivf straight after the lap but I felt like I needed the time to recover.

I had a laparaoscopy and treatment for endometriosis and was going to start IVF a couple of months later but I got naturally pregnant the month after the laparoscopy.
