Has anyone really ever had period cramps and a bfp?

Period due on Saturday. As usual I have period pains and yet am trying to convince myself that maybe they are some sort of early pregnancy sign, rather than just boring old cramps which will be followed by a very unwelcome period. I do this every month - cramps start and I try to convince myself I might still be pregnant. So I just wondered, has anyone ever really experienced proper period pains, just like if your period was about to start, and then a bfp?

I have! I had the worst cramps and thought my period was definitely coming and it was game over, but it didn't!
Good luck, hope it stays away Smile

Yes i have with all three of mine but they were worst with my first. I really thought each time that my period was on the way so you may well have a bun in the oven! Good luck. There were other things that i noticed, subtle body changes too like feeling warm at night, a sensation of heat in my throat, breasts being sore, pains about a week before my period was meant to come which i belive are implantation pains. All these things happened with my last pregnancy before i had a +ve result!.

Suzietwo · 19/09/2013 14:35

absolutely, but they were noticeably on one side.

I had cramps ds1. Thought period was coming as I had done an early test which was negative. Tested day I was due and got a bfp!

SmeeHee · 19/09/2013 14:50

Yes - every time. But I also got sore and swollen breasts so I had hope I was pregnant because of that! Although since having children that seems to happen at random times throughout the month anyway... Hmm

Fingers crossed for you.

I got my bfp yesterday and I'm still getting cramps that feels like the start of my period. I don't have sore boobs or feel sick either. I was totally convinced af was going to start but my line was stronger today than yesterday. Good luck!

SignoraStronza · 19/09/2013 16:03

Yes, both times. Plus extra raging pmt stroppiness. Was convinced af was on the way but taking a 'bloomin long time coming as the cramps were really annoying. Did a test to make sure and bfp!

YouHaveBeenOutbid · 19/09/2013 16:07

I have! I also had them at roughly the times my period would have been due at 8 and a bit weeks and almost 13 weeks ( I have a long cycle). It was scary but worth pointing out that I had them with my successful pregnancy but not with the one that ended in a missed miscarriage.

Thanks everyone! Feel a wee bit if hope now, although I also feel just like my period is about to start... The waiting is torture!

nomoreminibreaks · 21/09/2013 19:59

Yes - the first time. They carried on and were so bad I had an early scan. All was well though!

sheldor · 21/09/2013 23:09

Yep i did with both of mine and i know my dsis had them aswell with her 4

wishingforwillpower · 22/09/2013 10:46

BFP!! In shock... This is my second pregnancy and both times have taken quite a while to conceive. Feel a bit anxious now as last time I had no cramps at all, in fact it was the complete lack of usual pmt symptoms that made me think I was pregnant last time. I still have cramps today, quite mild but definitely there and on one side only. Also feel sick and hot. Must stop myself from googling symptoms and convincing myself of the worst!

Brilliant news wishing!

LittleBearPad · 22/09/2013 10:50

Congratulations!

Don't google. Dr google is a worry wart.

I continually felt like my period was going to start and had all the cramps etc but I was pregnant and now have a 17 month old.

Tuon · 22/09/2013 11:09

Fantastic news! Wishing you a happy, healthy and uneventful pregnany.

BelleJolie · 22/09/2013 13:17

Congrats! I don't get cramps as such, just heaviness in the pelvic area a few days before my period starts. When I was pregnant I had exactly the same feeling, so I was convinced my period was on its way any moment. It took a week of no period arriving for me to twig that a pregnancy test may be a good idea! And I was pregnant :)

starsandmoonandback · 22/09/2013 20:33

Woohoo! That's great news. Congratulations! ThanksGrin
