Hiya,

I'm really confused & I guess I hope you guys can offer me some advice about my situation. Sorry in advance for how long it is & sorry if its posted in the wrong place..

I am 21 years old, overweight & think I could be pregnant. My periods were irregular up until the beginning of 2013 & since then they have come on time every month.
My last period lasted about 3-4 days around June 22nd. I had unprotected sex a week later & a few more times before my next period was due. Around the time of my next period I was feeling extremely tired, nauseous but not vomiting, constipated, moody/emotional & I was craving foods I don't like & haven't eaten in years. I also noticed that I put on weight & I am bloated.

I took 3 pregnancy tests around 24 - 31 July & all came back negative, I didn't trust the result because they were cheap £1 shop tests & a sticker had been put over the original use by date. I made an appointment with my doctor at around 7weeks & asked to be tested, he referred me to the local sexual health/family planning clinic & a nurse there tested me - also came back negative. I had a full sexual health check too & that came back all clear. She did say my cervix looked closed & I should test again in a week.

I haven't taken another test since then. I've noticed more changes in myself, majority of the symptoms I had have disappeared but a few new ones have replaced them - heartburn in my throat that can last a few hours, constipation, need to go to the loo alot more often. I also noticed that just above my pubic hairline if I put a little pressure on my stomach I can feel a hard ball shaped thing, I can only feel this in certain positions. I also have excessive vaginal discharge, it is clear, sometimes a little cloudy with no odour & my cervix feels like a dimple & is soft but firm.

Based on everything I've read I do believe I am pregnant but some part of me thinks that its all in my head.

If it isn't pregnancy what else would cause me to have such similar symptoms?

x

No idea what this could be I'm afraid but if I were you I'd take another test and if still negative go back to your GP and ask what they think why you haven't had a period in 3 months - that seems rather a long time to me!

At your age I was underweight and had very few periods. I knew the reason was my weight. But I'm not sure if the same happens if one os overweight. Could there be a link between your weight and the lack of periods?

I think if you are getting -ve tests you are almost certainly not pregnant. But how about asking for a blood test - or even a scan (given the hard ball shaped thing).

Have you been tested for pcos?

The clinic said to test again but you chose not to! It makes me wonder why. It is a bit late to test via home pregnancy test now, as the is a chance of of a false negative by this point if you are indeed pregnant. Maybe buy a cheap test and see if it is positive. But if it is negative you still should go to the doctor, you could have an ovarian cyst or PCOS or be pregnant. The doctor should feel your stomach to see if the uterus is enlarged.

I hope you find out soon why your period has gone AWOL.
