Symptoms of post-ovulation?

Hi all, does anyone here have symptoms just after ovulation? I know many women do, as caused by a rise in progesterone but this is my second cycle off the pill and am convinced I didn't actually ovulate last month because I'm having so many symptoms now. I'm 3dpo and have fatigue, lower back ache and am a bit light-headed. Nipples were sore yesterday but seem better today. After years on the pill and not experiencing menstrual symptoms at all, I'm truing to get the hang of it all again!

The only reliable proof you ovulated is a rise in basal body temperature. The hormones can be present (so smiley face on sticks) and yog might still get pain but they don't prove an egg came out.

VJONES1985 · 17/09/2013 18:31

Yeah, I know that but am trying to keep positive...

Not meaning to piss on your chips! Good luck for the two week wait!

There really is no telling though so relax and try not to over think things - easier said than done I know

Some people get ovulation pain or back ache before they ov, and some after, some during. Some ovulate at day 7 in their cycle and some at day 27.

If you haven't already got it Taking Charge of your Fertility is always recommended on here.

Hello again Vjones! We're always on the same threads. I never get post ov symptoms, basal temp rise is the only way I know I've ovulated. And we don't all ov every month, I've had two months in the past year where I had no bbt rise so I'm guessing I didn't ovulate.

Thanks, I've seen that mentioned a lot so will check it out. Had positive opk on cd 17-19 (very positive on cd18) so perhaps I'm actually 4dpo. Who knows...

Hi.

Just saw something here that I didn't know.

Wedding- are you saying that even though I'm getting smiley faces and having more or less regular cycles, I may still not be ovulating? I do not temp at all.

Thanks.

weddingballs · 17/09/2013 22:17

Yes Smile

You can get the hormones without the egg. I have no idea how common it is though!

eurochick · 17/09/2013 22:22

My boobs get sore as soon as I ovulate. Within hours.

allchatnicknamesgone · 17/09/2013 22:38

Thx for replying weddingballs.
Hoping I'm not one of those.

jaykay987 · 18/09/2013 07:57

allthe - last month I had two LH surges. Both registered on opks, but only the second resulted on ovulation. As I take my bbt, I knew to continue with opks, but if I didn't temp, I'd have assumed I ovulated after the first peaks and then stopped using opks.

jaykay987 · 18/09/2013 08:01

ooh...forgot to add.....to make it even more confusing, my first peak was around cd16 which is about normal for me, but the second was cd22 - much later than normal. So opks alone would have meant I kissed ny fertile window, plus I would have thought I was pregnant as AF was 5days later than normal. As I knew my real ov date, I was expecting AF to be late if ny lutal phase was going to stay the same.
HTH

allchatnicknamesgone · 18/09/2013 10:06

Oh god. So basically jaykay, because I'm only doing opk and not temp, I could have experienced just a rise in LH and not ovulation. Your last cycle sounds confusing and you must be a pro to have caught that one! Congratulations!

I'm more worried now! Going to hold out today and do a first response in the morning if the witch doesn't get me before hand.

Thanks for reply. Hope your early weeks are going ok.
X

Shit. Sorry Jaykay, realised from another thread you didn't get the Bfp. So sorry, I read it wrong. Bum!
Here's to next month for you! Hope it's your month. X

I get really sore nipples a couple of days after ovulation, nature's way of telling you it's too late to dtd and not to bother??!! I also was on the pill for many years so I think you are quite sensitive to the symptoms as soon as you come off it.
