Long cycles and Cerazette

I have been a long time lurker on here since before I got pregnant with DD who is now 18 months. The posts have got me through some late nights and answered questions I couldn't have raised in real life (without pink cheeks!).

DH and I decided to try for a sibling for our DD. I had been on Cerazette for about 8 months when we decided. I was on this contraception because I had been breastfeeding.

The turnaround from trying not to get pregnant to desperately trying was really not that long and in hindsight I regretted taking oral contraception, particularly when I read some of the bad press about Cerazette. Like many on here, I've been on the pill most of my adult life, so I'm not really up on my cycle stats.

I really hope this doesn't come across as boastful,as I know how hurtful it can feel, but 3 months of trying we got our BFB. I am so thankful, as my cycle was insane after coming of Cerazette (53 days). While trying and obsessively pouring over the pages of this forum I made a promise to myself that if I got pregnant, I would share my experience. So I hope this provides a little hope for all of you out there with long cycles/ coming off the pill.

For DD I'd been on Microgynon for years and it took about 6 months for me to get my period, again my periods were 50 days plus and it took 4 months to get a BFP.

I'm only 5-6 weeks so its still very early days - the worry never ends and I just seem to transfer the obsession! I just want to say good luck to you all and I hope you all get your BFP soon.

Thanks TooMuchCBeebies! It's nice to hear a positive story about this pill!! We're ttc no3 after being on cerazette for 5 years. Only stopped taking it 3 weeks ago and have every pregnancy symptom going, but read everywhere that this is typical of this pill.
No withdrawal bleed when I stopped, no sign of AF yet. Chance I'm preggers but more likely fake symptoms! Congrats on your bfp and thanks for sharing!! X

Good luck LH1981 and thanks for your reply. You really just never know, especially when just coming of the pill! Fingers crossed you get your BFP very soon.

I was on this pill for 8 months also after the birth of my ds. I stopped taking it 2nd June, AF arrived on 29th June. I got pregnant first cycle. I'm now 11+3 weeks.

Hopefully it will give someone thinking of TTCing and currently on cerazette some hope.

Yay to positivity!
Thanks ThedementedPenguin and congrats to you too!
So much doom and gloom when it comes to Cerazette. I suppose it's good to know the bad stuff so as not to get hopes up too much and then be disappointed if it takes a while, but equally good to hear some cheery tales and be able to see that every body reacts differently and not everyone struggles.
Still no AF, but pregnancy symptoms have subsided so think perhaps not this time around (hey-ho, it's only been a few weeks!)
Good luck and best wishes for your pregnancies and new arrivals! xx

Thanks toomuch, I was on Cerrazette for 4 yrs and my cycles have been ridiculous since coming off in May, longest one was 81 days and shortest 17! It's good to see there is light at the end of the tunnel and that BFP's are possible. TTC#1 at 29, DH is 30, just really want my own baby. :-(

LH1981 · 18/09/2013 20:52

Big hugs gnomiegrace, I know how difficult it is. It took us nearly 5 years to have our first (I always had a lot of medical troubles) but then got pregnant with my second almost by accident. Now trying for no 3 and already impatient!
It will happen for you. Stay positive and try not to let it get you down. Xx
