Prolonged positive OPKs anything to worry about??

I've had very dark positive opks for three consecutive days now. Is it true that this could mean pcos or that my body is struggling to ovulate?

Hi there. I was using OPKs and was getting a positive result for a whole week. I am under a infertility clinic and have been told i have a few ovarian cysts, they can cause LH levels to be raised which would cause a false positive on an OPK. the clinic did blood tests and discovered that i hadn't ovulated so the OPK was indeed wrong! The clinic advised me not to use OPKs as they are unreliable.

Oh no :-(

My opks are positive for three days. Evening day one, all day day two, morning day three. Negative by the end of day three. My temps rise in line with ov on the last day. From what I've read via google, this isn't that unusual... I wouldn't worry about three days...

Okay, thanks. Have had positive day one evening, day two evening, day three morning and evening so far. Wonder what will happen tomorrow!!

I hope it fades out tomorrow, VJ. You only came off the pill a month ago, don't get too worried just yet. If you're worried about whether you're ovulating you should track your bbt next cycle if this one isn't the one. ThanksThanks

VJONES1985 · 14/09/2013 23:15

Thanks. I think tracking bbt would freak me out if I had no temperature shift because then I'd just be convinced I'm infertile, but I guess it's a good idea. Just so worried that I'm not ovulating

Thanks to a comment from Tea1Sugar, I have realised that b6 supplements can delay ov, so perhaps that explains this situation. Am going to atop taking it today and see what happens bit really hope my luteal phase is longer this month :-(

Got a negative opk today, after a 48-hour LH surge. So either I finally ovulated overnight or my body gave up, ha ha! Will continue dtd for a few days to be sure.

Out if interest, does anyone take b6 only between ov and af, in a bid to lengthen the luteal phase but not delay ov? If so, it may be something for me to bear in mind in future.

I read a lot about b6 as I had a short luteal phase, I never saw anything about it delaying ov. My ov went from day 19/20 (28 day cycle, 8/9 day luteal phase) to day 14/15 (28 day cycle) when taking b complex. I did read that it was cumulative though so you need to keep taking it to get the benefits.

I found this really useful, sorry I can't link properly, posting from home www.babyhopes.com/articles/luteal-phase-defect.html
