Made a mess of my trigger injection

I'm having my second IUI tomorrow. This Pregnyl injection didn't go well..... First it didn't come with a syringe so I had to go to hospital to get one. Then the vial broke wrongly and bits of glass were in the solution. Then the instructions told me to use a second, smaller needle, which I didn't have. Then the syringe was all air bubbles and to get rid of them I ended up losing loads of the solution. Then, somehow, I managed to somehow squirt loads out as I was trying to get the needle in to me. So I ended up getting less than a quarter of the dose. And now I don't know what to do. And it's made me feel useless and miserable which I know is because I'm VERY hormonal but ugh.

I wish I'd asked the nurse who gave me the syringe to do the bloody injection for me!

I'm afraid I can't offer any advice but I have my fingers crossed for you!

Your clinic should have an emergency out of hours number. I'd call for their advice.

TheresAHuppoInMyHouse · 14/09/2013 19:55

It doesn't really feel like an emergency, just incompetence. They should have a 'keep us informed of your numptiness' number. That would be ideal.

I might ring them anyway.

huppo did the fc not give you a lesson? I was also issued with a kit containing pink needles (to draw up the fluid) and yellow ones (to administer it). If your needles are as big as my pink ones then OUCH! I'm not surprised you did it wrong! Sounds like someone has cocked up at the fc if you ask me!

Sorry, just read my post and realised how unhelpful I was lol. I think the number is more for people with ohss but try it anyway. Not sure they'll give you another prescription as you've already administered some (I think?). Really hope it works out but if it doesn't, I'd demand another iui out of it!

Thanks, Blindkitty. I'm waiting to see the doctor now, before she does my iui. I hope this isn't a wasted chance ....

I am glad you are seeing a doc now. I made a horlicks of my trigger at the beginning of the year. The bottle smashed in restaurant loos due to my heavy hand, and i sliced my hand up and blood dripping everywhere. It was all a bit of a panic. I did have a spare thank goodness but it wasn't a smooth operation. My friend wondered why I had disappeared for 30mins. Good luck.

TheresAHuppoInMyHouse · 16/09/2013 13:35

Thanks Joycep. She went ahead and did the iui, she said that if anything went in then it's worth a try!

I have no hopes for this cycle, though. I'll just make sure that next time I get someone else to do the injection for me. It's a bugger, though, as these hormones do make me pretty emotional, and not least we are self-funding the procedure, so it's another thousand pounds spent with no result.
