Fibroids and ttc

We are starting to think about ttc dc2. Dd took 16 months of ttc and during my pregnancy found out that I have a reasonably big fibroid. Does anyone know if this could have been a reason why it took so long to conceive? And if so is it likely to have a similar impact second time around?

hi, sorry I can't offer any advice hut didn't want to leave you unanswered.

I think the issue with fibriods is depending on the size / position then cam prevent implantation or sperm meetong the egg. Try not to worry though plenty people have successful pregnancies with them I'm sure.

I had a mc in June and was told I have a 5cm cyst in my uterus I can't find anything about this online but lots about fibriods, are they the same thing? I was told under 7cm they don't do anything about them. I am worried about them affecting ttc too or causing another mc.

Thanks for replying. I'm not sure if they are the same thing - I think that fibroids are non-malignant growths that sit outside the womb (at least that's where mine is). It was the size of a grapefruit at my 20 week scan with dd and don't know what's happened since to it but have read they can grow during pregnancy.

Hmm. Maybe we should start trying sooner rather than later with the expectation it will take a while again - I don't want a huge gap between dd and the next one but at the same time I'm about to return to work and want to leave a decent ish gap.

Based on my own experience - nobody seems to know how much impact they have on conceiving. It depends so much on location , size , type. We took a long time to conceive first time and I worried this was an issue.

Conceived DC2 very easily ( about 5 cycles I think) and the fibroids had shrunk considerably.

Hope that helps - good luck!
