when to get blood tests for ovulation?

I would like to know when and if I ovulated, I'm getting my iron level checked tom morning and thought I could ask for that to be looked at. I'm on cd18 today and ff thinks I ovulated cd13 so when would be the best day?

The ov blood tests are meant to be on day 21 if your cycle. That's based on a cycle if around 28 days though so if your cycles are much longer you will want to do it later.

Do u think if I asked for them to be done rather than the doctor they would do it?

Normally have 27-30 day cycle.

Test is for progesterone levels approx 7 days after supposed ovulation - they're called "day 21" as that's when it would be in a 28 day cycle, but I found that some fertility HCPs call them that even when you actually have them on another day due to a different length cycle.
I would think that if you're having blood drawn tomorrow and you think you ovulated 6 days earlier, your progesterone levels tomorrow would give you a pretty good indication - if you can persuade them to run the test. The level of progesterone will indicate if you ovulated, but won't pinpoint when.

The test would need to be requested by your GP or whoever referred you for the iron level though.

On NHS you will need to be referred by the doctor.

Like is said above, it's 21 days because that is 7 days on average ovulation. If you know you are later then you can go later. I have mine this month and I am pretty sure I ovulate a bit late so I will be going on day 23ish on doctors advice.

I'm on cd19 and normally have already ovulated by this point but ff thinks I've ovulated on cd13 going by my temps but clear blue opk's have been giving me flaring smiley since cd 13 up til cd17 and I'm run down with the cold and also ds and dh.

My thoughts are that I'm not going to ovulate this month at all or I did at cd13.

Depends on your area - I've been able to book them in myself (the GP obviously knows of my worries, but it's been me who booked in the tests etc).

I asked whilst I was there and she said typically I would have to go through doc so I'm never going to for this month.
