hi

This is our first time of ttc and yesterday I thought we should splash out and get a clearblue pregnancy test. I found it was 97% accurate 2 days before period, so I thought I might as well test today (2 days before). After about 30 seconds it became very clearly 'pregnant'.

How accurate is this? what next? any advice would be helpful because this is kinda surreal and i feel like going and buying the whole shops testing kits to make sure.

Should I wait a few more days and test again? is this a good sign that Im actually pregnant? aggh help. this wasnt expected, I just thought it would be a nice thing to do early for the first month ;)

Congratulations! It's not just a sign - you are pregnant. There's no such thing as a false positive in pregnancy tests, they check for a hormone which doesn't exist unless you have conceived.

CatsCantFlyFast · 05/09/2013 08:15

It's accurate, very very very rare to get a false positive. Congratulations

MortifiedAdams · 05/09/2013 08:16

I think it is impossible to get a false positive, so congratualtions!!

Enjoy you new secret :-)

Armadale · 05/09/2013 08:16

Congratulations....it is easy to get a false negative if you test early as not enough HCG may have built up, but you can't get a false positive in that way- a positive reading means you must have HCG in your system Smile lucky you!

PS those digital ones are great because they cut out all the time spent glaring trying to decide if there is a line there or not. BUT the batteries in them don't last very long and you can't replace them, so if you want to remember your test for posterity then take a photo of it now before the display conks out in a couple of days, or buy a cheapie from the pound shop and wee on that too!

thanks everyone. eek. wow. cool. i guess we got lucky then..

100% pregnant. Congratulations!

MortifiedAdams · 05/09/2013 08:24

I think a BFP in the first month is more common that people think - I gave myself a year amd got BFP the second month. Nearly fell off my chair!

KoalaFace · 05/09/2013 08:25

Congratulations! You're pregnant Smile

Justshabbynochic · 05/09/2013 09:05

Next thing to do is book in with your GP so they can get you registered with the midwifery team. But they won't do anything for a few weeks, which will be irratingly boring for you! It's a bit of a waiting game from now on!

somersethouse · 05/09/2013 09:09

Definitely pregnant Smile congratulations!

Smile Morning lolablu

Are you thrilled? Was your DH/DP with you when you tested? My DH was walking around like a Rooster when we conceived the first month. Be prepared!

lolablu · 06/09/2013 07:57

lol. my DH was still asleep. but he woke up pretty quick when I told him :)

mm interesting. the gp reception told me that I needed to speak to the midwife. is this right?

OP posts:
Hawkmoth · 06/09/2013 08:14

Probably. You just book in for your eight week appointment. Doesn't seem all that exciting... But it IS! Congratulations!

PrincessKitKat · 06/09/2013 08:15

In some areas you skip the GP and go straight to the midwife, that's what they do at my doctors.

Congratulations! Welcome to the eye opening world of early pregnancy!

Twiddlebum · 06/09/2013 08:18

I also had an early feint positive (2 months ttc (although was fully aware that I might not be able to have children so we were prepared for a long journey) I found out on valentines day morning (also my new husbands birthday) and I had to hold it in and not tell anyone alllllll day!!! I stuck the positive test strip inside my husbands valentines card a d have it to him at our evening meal!!!... He blubbed like a baby!!! I'm now due next month and can't wait! Grin
Enjoy OP and huge congratulations!! Xx

KoalaFace · 06/09/2013 08:23

Yeah when I called to see my GP and the receptionist asked "why?" none of your business you nosy bint she said I'd just be going straight to the midwife.

lolablu · 06/09/2013 08:30

thanks. I still booked a gps appt online for later. I have a few medical things going on that I really feel I need to talk to the gp about. eeeee
