How heavy can implantation bleeding be?

Hi all,
I just started bleeding yesterday....light with light cramps. I got excited that it might be implantation bleeding as it is early for AF (and i am very regular) and it was spot on the most likely day for implantation. However, the bleeding has got heavier today...worse cramps so more like a normal period.
I had a miscarriage a few months ago so I guess I'm a bit disappointed on a few levels if it is AF. I have not had any obvious pregnancy symptoms other that a few episodes of unexplained nausea but also i have been ridiculously spotty...am guessing my hormones are being bonkers?

My confusion is because people say they often mistake implantation bleeding for their period...so how long can it last and how heavy can it be?

Thanks....any help appreciated! :-)

I had what I assume was implantation bleeding - I thought it was my period and was the right time for implantation bleeding. I have light periods anyway that normally last for maybe 4 or 5 days. This was lighter and lasted for about 3 days. I didn't work out I was pregnant until I started getting symptoms I recognised from my last pregnancy at about 7 weeks pregnant.

Thanks Hebe ...I guess i'm wondering what is considered light? I'm finding it hard to know as I'm used to using tampons but am using pads at mo....in comparison to the miscarriage it is light bleeding but I think it would be considered normal-light for a period....ie. I get cramps, then reasonable amount of blood and small clots.
I didn't have an implantation bleed last time so think i may have a case of wishful thinking, But i have had a lifetime of AF being regular as clockwork which is making me wonder!

Hmm yes it is hard to describe light! I've read when they actually measure these things (!) the subjective don't always match the objective if you see what I mean.

Still, it was a reasonable amount of blood rather than just spotting and maybe a very few clots. Sorry if tmi but to give you an idea of quantity - I would say if I could have left a pad on all day without it soaking through. It was more like the period I get when on the pill. However, it was only my second 'period' after they came back after breastfeeding so I was not necessarily expecting them to be regular.

I didn't get any implantation bleeding on my first pregnancy either so it can be different for different pregnancies.

Fingers crossed for you :)
