Does Sertraline (anti-depressant) affect fertility?

Anyone else tried TTCing while on Sertraline. I'm on a low dosage of 50mg and am hoping to come off them early next year or as soon as I conceive (my GP thinks this is realistic). I just don't know the fertility issues

I'm on 100mg sertraline with no intentions of coming off it for the foreseeable future. I consider myself more or less recovered, though I know that I am unwell when I am unmedicated.

I've spoken to my psychiatrist and my GP about TTC and being pregnant on sertraline and they've both advised me to continue to take it as the risk of a relapse is of far greater concern than the risk it poses to the baby. Fertility issues were never mentioned, and I think they would have been if there were any evidence to support that possibility.

So no, I wouldn't have thought so! Good luck both in TTC and in your recovery!

I should have mentioned that although not a lot of research has been carried out into anti-depressants during pregnancy, sertraline is one that has had some of the most research done on, and this is why many doctors feel that it is one of the safest anti-depressants to be taken during pregnancy/TTC. They know what to expect and any risks posed are usually minimal.

Anybody have any recent experiences to add to this?

I was on 100mg sertraline and for the last week i have had 50mg a day, i feel okay, bit dizzy sometimes but not anything crazy. I plan to take 50mg every other day for the 2 weeks, and then every 3 days, and so on and so forth. I feel good that I'm getting off of it. I was only on them for 6 months too.
The weaning off process was advised by my Dr btw.

I went to the doctor yesterday about this and I was told its fine to keep on taking throughout pregnancy if the benefits to you out way the risks. He told me there isn't enough evidence to say it causes any defects in the baby and it is the most studied SSRI in pregnancy. I told him I was TTC and he told me this wouldn't affect it.
