Ovulation signs and pregnancy

Have nc because I know some people on here and this is definitely tmi!

Every month just before ovulation (as confirmed by the cheery smiley face and ovulation pain) I get a big blob of cm. It's clear and stretchy and I continue to get ewcm throughout ovulation but this seems to mark the start of ovulation. The ONLY month I haven't had this since coming off the pill fives years ago is the month I conceived ds. Why would this be? When I didn't get it that month I sort of wondered if maybe I was pregnant just because it happens like clockwork on day 13 of every 28 day cycle. But why would being pregnant stop it?

Now we've been TTC dc2 for quite a while but every month when I get this I assume that we have been unsuccessful even before the negative pregnancy test. In fact i tell dh each month when it appears that im not pregnant. we usually try day 10, 12 and 14. I almost wonder if the blob (sorry) signifies the end of ovulation not the beginning but clear blue smiley faces tend to go positive on the same day as blob appears and then stay positive for about 48 hours.

It really is impossible to miss so don't think I just missed it when I got pregnant with ds.

Anyone else had similar or am I a freak?!

Hi, not sure if it will help but I saw a post on another website from a natural fertility expert on how to tell when you are fertile. it was all about recognising your bodies signs leading up too and during ovulation so it may well shed some light on what's happening for you. I found it quite interesting. The link to the post is forum.prideangel.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=537 Hope it helps, keep us updated on how you get on. Good luck xxx

do you mean you did not get cm the time you ovulated and conceived, or the month after you conceived? Because when you're pregnant you don;t ovulate and wont have cm.

It sounds like you're really regular. You get the cm on the day of a fixed smiley, which means you'll ovulate within 12-48 hours. It seems that you're dtd on the right days. Perhaps try on day 15 or 16 as well, just in case ov takes a bit longer?

How long have you been trying?

We've been trying a year. The issue is with dh, the fertility specialist says a natural conception is not impossible (well, we had ds!) but less likely and will take longer.

I meant that the actual month of conception (so before even implantation would have happened!) that I didn't have this usual symptom of ovulation. I'm really not sure why!

It's normal not to ovulate every month - it could be that you've missed a month. It's not ideal when ttc, but not necessarily an issue. Or you could, as you say, be pg. Take a test?
