Pregnancy after vasectomy?

Does anyone know someone who has got pregnant after their dh has had a vasectomy (after they've been given the 'all-clear' that is)?

no-one I know but have heard of it happening thro the grape-vine as it were.

are you thinking you may be then or are you hoping for DH/DP to go for it and wanting to know any risk factors????

DH had it done two years ago. AF is currently 6 days late and I know it's HIGHLY unlikely I could be pg, but I have not been more than 5 days late since he had it done. I always used to be fairly irregular before that, going up to two weeks late though so I won't do a test or anything yet, but I just want to know!

I do know that my dad's friend's wife got pg after his vasectomy and it had failed according to my mum, but I don't know if it was before or after the all-clear. I don't really want to ask as it will kind of give the game away which I don't want just yet.

I would do a test, then you'll know for sure. do you have any simptoms that could relate to pg? I know two women who got pregnant after they had been sterilised, one with twins! but don't know anyone who got pg after vasectomy, but there must be a statistic somewhere, hope for your sake that you're not it, :)

Well, I was cleaning the bath today with Cillit Bang and it smelled revolting - I've never noticed that before! Apart from some bloating in the evenings (which could be sign of AF), there's not really any other symptoms.

I've checked out the internet and the chance of failure after the all-clear is 1 in 2000 (compared with 1 in 200 for female sterilisation). That sounds fairly rare, but not THAT rare. My ds had dislocated hips at birth which I was told was 1 in 800, and I know loads of kids who've had that too.

I'm not actually as upset about the thought of being pg as I thought I would be - perhaps because it was out of my control? I'm more worried about what people might think as most of my friends know about DH's snip. He believes me though which is the main thing I suppose!

Well, still no AF. haven't done a test yet - dh thinks I shouldn't waste the money as he's sure I can't be pg! Have a tummy ache this pm - not sickness, although I am on antibiotics for acne which can cause sickness/diarrhoea.

Thanks 006. In a way, it is the feedback I want as I will have 'ammo' if it turns out I am and people talk (as they do).

I once taught a child of a woman whose hubby had had a vasectomy and she got pregnant with and successfully delivered quads!!!! leaving them with 7 children - but I never asked if they had got themselves checked after the procedure.

just getting dhs stuff from his recent one... it has a list of riskes etc.
"one in every 5000 vasectomies may spontaneously reverse months or years after the procedure. No-one is certain how this occurs, but it is a well documented phenomenon." direct quote from the clinic literature. Shock

My DH had it done a while ago and was warned by a friend that she knew someone who'd got pg after they'd been given the all clear. Frightens the living daylights out of me. Hope it turns out the way you want.

Well, finally did a test yesterday and it was negative - was strangely disappointed in the way us women are sometimes - DH v.v.v relieved! Still no AF yet and now 12 days late. After I did the test yesterday I started to feel really sick, although that could be the anti-biotics I'm on like I said before. Was ok this morning but feeling a bit odd this afternoon. Just want AF to get a move on now.
