Hi All, I'm new to mums net and have just been looking around and reading some of the forums to get accustomed to what to expect when ttc (one acronym I've managed to learn - please bear with me as I don't know them all yet!).

Married a couple of months ago which is when I came off the pill (microgynon - was on it for 10 years non stop). First cycle was 30 days (pill period to non-pill period) and second cycle was 28 days. We decided to start ttc last month and was due on on Friday (28 days). But there has been nothing. Obv got a little excited so have done testS (plural!) but all bfn. Trying not to convince myself the tests are wrong and that it's just a coincidence that the first month we were trying af hasn't arrived, but now getting worried this is the start of my periods going haywire after being on the pill for so long. Read some pretty scary stuff on the Internet about how being on it for so long gives you all sorts of fertility problems, so I think I'm writing on here to reassure myself I'm not the only one, and to start making some friends in the same situation as me!

I completely appreciate there are some people who are way ahead of me in the ttc stakes, but I'm a pessimist at heart and I know ultimately this isn't going to help at all so just wanted some advice. Should I go to the doc or just wait?

Sorry for my rambling post, any advice great fully received! X

Hiya. The pill can mean your cycles take a while to settle down and regulate but it doesn't cause fertility problems. Important to remember though that it could have masked issues such as pcos that only become apparent once you stop the pill.

Having said that, it's possible to be having false negative tests so keep trying :)

Hello willows, I was on the pill for 12 years and only came off it last month. I am worried about what my cycle will be like and do think what if ive left it too late as im 32!

Maybe do another test in a couple of days

By the way, you've had two 'normal' length cycles already so that's a very good sign.

Thanks VJONES - I thought about pcos which is what made me think about seeing docs, but as you said I've had 2 relatively normal cycles (and from that got complacent that my cycles had just returned to normal very quickly after coming off the pill!). Will wait a bit longer I think before seeing doc.

Thanks MrsB - I'm sure you haven't left it too late! It seems there's a lot of people who've been on the pill for a good number of years like us...

Me included. I'm 28 and came off the pill two weeks ago, after 12 years. Have been using daily opks to see if I'm ovulating.
