Bathing after sex

Every time I make love I always get a bath soon after ,as Sex always leaves a smell on me. I know it's not uncommon but even so I still like to feel clean and fresh.

However could this be stopping sperm doing their job if I'm washing everything away. I also need to go to the toilet straight afterwards and I can't hold it in which can't be helping but I suppose it's just as bad to hold wee in.
I know it only takes one of the little swimmers but how long should I wait before getting a bath after sex or does it not matter.
Thank you in advance for any replies. xx

Yes unfortunately it means laying there, normally in the wet patch whilst it all just falls out lol very frustrating

Try to hold off going to the toilet for at Least half an hour, perhaps same with the bath just to give the little guys a fighting chance

I've found there's less leakage if I put my bum on a pillow and have my legs up on the wall!

I think you maximise your chances of conception if you can bear to do what VJones says. Not very attractive, but it helps!

I fins it quite comfy, I lay there reading a book for at least half an hour Grin

it's not necessary to stay down with your legs up. Sperm will swim up the cervix into the fallopian tubes as fast as they can against gravity. Some sperm make it in a matter of minutes. I would say, to be safe, wait for at least half an hour until your bath.

The toilet, it should be okay to go after sex, but wait 5 minutes at least.

I know deep down that it's not necessary but it makes me feel better :)

Thank you for your replies and advice. I'll do my best to hold off getting a bath for at least 30 mins after D.T.D and see if that works. xx

Sure I read somewhere that you should avoid taking really warm baths - sperm are sensitive creatures and they can't take the heat (same reason it all hangs out iyswim). It might be an old wives tale/google myth but just thought I'd add it to the mix until someone wiser than me comes along to tell me I'm talking nonsense. Good luck ttc Smile

Thanks for your reply sunflowered. and for your well wishes I've been ttc since April. How about you? Also and good luck to you as well.
I only get warm baths though and I pretty much just wash everything and get straight back out because after a while you're just lying in your own dirt ect.
Like you say it may be an old wives tale but when you're ttc anything's worth a try xx

I D.T.D from 6.00.- around 7.15, tonight and I didn't get a bath till 8.30. Here's hoping it works. A.F is due 31st so only time will tell. I still can't hold off going for a wee, though. Sorry to give out T.M.I but after D.T.D it (wee) is practically dripping out of me. xxx

Just a note to say you shouldn't hold on to your wee after sex, you are increasing your chances of urinary tract infections so pee asap! The stuff that comes out after sex isn't the sperm anyway (not live ones at least) all the swimmers up up in there swimming to where they need to be.

Can't imagine water would get in up past your cervix either, surely that would lead to all sorts of nasty infections and inflammations from all the years of all those women having baths?
