Confused and stressed

Hi guys.... I usually just lurk on these boards but getting increasingly stressed by my situation so would appreciate your advice. I had my mirena removed 36 days ago in order to ttc #2. About 3 days after removal I had some extremely light spotting but since then nothing. I've poas several times but they have all been -ve not even a faint line. I should also add that the mirena did not agree with me at all - extreme fatigue, depression, zero sex drive etc. after I had it removed it was such a relief and I really did feel like myself again. That is until the past 2 weeks when those symptoms seem to have returned along with vivid dreams and bloatedness. I'm so confused as to what my body is doing and I don't suppose this sort of stress is doing the best for my fertility either. Any experience of similar? How soon after mirena removal did your periods return? Do you think it is at all possible I am pregnant? Thanks.

I wish I knew the answer to this too! Though my experience of the mirena was absolutely fine, settled down quickly and no real side effects that I noticed , we also want to ttc and the waiting game after removal is making me quite crazy!

Do you remember much about your pre mirena cycle? What I've heard would suggest that it should come back at the time your period would always have been due, but if you stopped bleeding on mirena this is really difficult to calculate!

If the spotting lasted more than a day or two, I would perhaps consider that this was your first period, much lighter than usual because the mirena thins the lining of your uterus. Its a bit early in the day for my maths to be 100% accurate, but if you assume a long cycle, then you could be coming up to the end on day 30-35? Or, the beginning of a new cycle and its potentially too early to obtain a positive test?

Fingers crossed for you!

Hi Mummy,

I had a Mirena for 3 years which I had removed at the end of May. I had some spotting a few days later which I was told would happen. About 4 weeks later I got my actual period which was horrific, I had forgotten how horrible they were!! I haven't had a 2nd post-Mirena period as I got my BFP from our first month of trying Smile.

My Coil came out on the 29th of May and I conceived on the 6th/7th of July.

Mummy2Bea · 18/08/2013 09:48

Yes I thought it possibly could have been my period - lasted about 2 days so I was trying to work out likely ovulation time from that. No periods at all with mirena in though so it is all a bit of a guessing game! I conceived DD first time trying and def had ewcm but pretty sure I haven't had any thing like that since removal unless it just hasn't been as obvious. Perhaps as u say my cycle is a bit longer which means I ovulated later than I thought and therefore any poas won't show up yet?! I being hopeful I know! How long have u been waiting for af?

Hi writer congratulations on your pregnancy Grin good to hear it was fairly straight forward although that period sounds scary!

It was like a blood bath!! I'd forgotten how to cope with it! Smile

I still had regular periods whilst having the Mirena, they kept to the same 30 day cycle as they had always been, except on the Mirena they were EXTREMELY light and lasted about 2-3 days. My first real one was awful, just like they used to be before the Mirena : blood everywhere, agonising cramps and lasting 7 days. As soon as this baby is born (touch wood) I'm having another Mirena put in Smile

Because my periods had remained regular it made it much easier to guess when my fertile period was. I estimated it was 8th of July and DTD according. I had one brief showing of EWCM on the 7th July which is when my scans indicated I conceived.

I'm coming up to 3 weeks after removal now, and no sign of anything resembling a period right now! 3 days ago I had what I would describe as some thick pink/ brown discharge that I noticed when I went to the bathroom but it stopped immediately and I haven't seen more yet.

Definitely experiencing symptoms, but I would think it is far too early for it to be anything other than my hormones getting back into check.

OrangeLily · 18/08/2013 10:20

I didn't have the mirena remove but I did have the implanon implant removed and it took 63 days for my first proper bleed. Hang on in there it might take a while!

Mummy2Bea · 18/08/2013 21:17

Ooh daysies I'm crossing my fingers for u. Sounds like we're in a similar boat. No AF again for me today.

Nothing here either, getting impatient! I keep thinking I feel it, but then, still nothing.. gah!

Daysies · 21/08/2013 14:23

Still nothing much to report here, ALL my pms symptoms have vanished but still no AF. I even poas this morning out of desperation and its a negative! Going to call my Dr this afternoon and try to get some sense made of it all, hope you are well and didn't get your AF yet either Mummy2Bea

WillowsTree · 21/08/2013 20:01

Its been 38 days since I had my mirena removed, and I'm all waiting for af. No idea what's going wrong with my body. Had my first removed 2 years ago to ttc #1 and had af within a week and bfp 3 weeks later! Never know how your body is going to react I suppose, but its starting to get me down that were not able to even start ttc.

Mummy2Bea · 21/08/2013 21:52

No still nothing here. I think you're right about going to see doctor. We're away on holiday at the moment but think I will do the same when we get back. Just frustrating not knowing what is going on and I guess I was a bit naive thinking it would be as easy as last time.

Sorry to hear you're in the same position willow. You must be fed up after it was all ok last time. Have you take a test yet?

OP posts:
WillowsTree · 21/08/2013 22:08

Yip I took several as had a couple of what must have been evap lines. Stopped this week though as I was driving myself crazy! I know I'm not pg, but I just want my cycles back so I know where I stand. Constantly feel like af is about to appear too which is quite stressful in itself!

Mummy2Bea · 22/08/2013 08:24

So I took another test this morning and it was positive! Not as strong a line as the test strip but definitely a line. Can't quite believe it. Going to take another test later to be sure. Seems my mind was not playing tricks on me after all. Thinking of u all in similar situations and hoping you all get some answers soon.

Oh thats great news for you! Well done! Still nothing happening here, but off to the Dr's shortly. I was hoping that AF would arrive this morning as I've made an appt... but no!

Mummy2Bea · 22/08/2013 13:11

Ooh good luck at the doctors. Thinking of you.
