Hi i have just finished my pill last friday and have read a few posts on this forum about people ttc afte they finish the pack rather than wait for first real bleed, i had planned to start ttc after my first real one in sept but im now worried that i wont have as much chance then as a few people have said that the chances are better when you first stop the pill. Sorry im just unsure as this will be ttc our first baby so any advice welcome :)

I heard such a massive mix of stories so I would say it's up to you. Doctors prefer you to wait so they can better date your pg once you are pregnant but I started ttc straight away because I don't see the point in waiting. Having said that,I would recommend using opks from day one so you can see if you actually ate ovulating or not.

Thanks for the reply i bought the clearblue ovulation kit but not sure when to start checking this as usually my withdrawl bleed is a few days after stopping pill (for7 day break) so think it will be tomorrow

Start testing from day 6 of your cycle and keep an eye on cervical mucus and other signs of ovulation. I'm trying to remember that it may take months for my cycle to return properly though!

Do you reckon you will start trying straight away? If you want to wait for your real periods to return, remember that it may take up to six months.

You're not more fertile after just stopping, so don't worry about that. Just start when you and your oh are ready. Waiting for a first real period does make it easier to know when to start using opks, but it's not necessary.

Im not sure as i wanted to stop the pill and hope that by doing this i could get a few extra pounds off as i have been trying to lose weight but ithas really slowed down so even if i could get some off before end of sept when my real period is due that might help?

Yeah, could certainly help. Remember that your real period might not show up that quickly though :) Good luck!
