ttc and using hot water bottles

bit of a random one, concerned as read somewhere that heat such as sauna etc is not good when ttc.

i work nightshifts and regularly sit with a hot water bottle on my tummy as i have ibs which is aggrivated with my shifts, i work in a call centre so temp drops and it becomes very cold overnight so i love having my hot water bottle.

do you think this could cause any issues? Hmm

I wouldn't have thought so, it's the sperm which need to not be too hot

My IVF clinic told me not to use hot water bottles. My acu lady told me the opposite. Who knows?

I don't think it would be a problem assuming you're female - I think it's just the sperm that need to be kept cool. I mean, ovaries/eggs are inside our bodies and they seem to cope with travel to hot countries and exercising hard, so I guess they mustn't mind getting hot all that much... And I assume you're covering the hot water bottle with something - towel/scarf/etc? - so it's not scalding hot on your skin? I reckon you'll be fine Smile.

I think the danger for women is when your core body temp gets too high it can cause problems - that's why they advise against saunas, hot baths etc.

I don't know if a hot water bottle would raise your core temp or not?

I just found this on hot water bottles or at least keep your uterus warm.
