How long does ewcm last before ovulation?

Bit confused as I seem to have totally forgotten what happens in a normal cycle after 12 years on the pill ;) I've have ewcm for five or six days now and it seems to be a bit thicker this morning. How many days prior to ov does ewcm usually last? Have used opks for the last two days and, frustratingly, they were negative so I'm quite confused!

It depends. I only ever get one day. It was probably more when I was younger though.

Thanks. Am getting a sad feeling that I'm producing ewcm but perhaps won't ovulate this month. However, it's only cd10 so I just haven't got a clue what's happening at the moment. Guess I have to just keep dtd and hope something happens!

At the risk of severely embarrasing myself here but I can't ask this question in R.L. I'd probably get laughed out of town but I though women ovulated every month and how do you know when you're not ovulating. I don't really get an awful lot of discharge at any point in my cycle is that something to be concerned about. I am aware that with age your cycle may change and fertility may lessen. When I wipe sometimes it is stretchy and clear coupled with me I feel very sexy and attractive so that sounds like ovulation.

Ovulation can sometimes be picked up from mucus that's clear and stretchy and other things like sore boobs, etc. However, I personally may not be ovulating yet because I've only just come off the pill.

By the way, nothing to worry about re lack of mucus - everyone's different and have different amounts.

Ewcm can last a while especially if you've just come off the pill. Your body is gearing up for ovulation. Last time I had ewcm for two weeks before ov happened! You're only on cd10 so your body seems right on track.

Thank you, that's good to know. I have a chart of cervical mucus but it's for the 'average' person and therefore it's hard to work out what's going on. Will continue using my trusty opks! Apart from physical symptoms of coming of the pill, I feel quite calm and happy in myself which I don't know is just my general state of mind or whether it's hormonal, but it's nice!

I got told by my fertility accupuncturist that the stretchier it is and the more you have, the more fertile you are. It is possible to have EWCM and not ovulate though as your body has still geared up for ovulation. Are you sure that it is EWCM? Sorry, don't mean to sound patronising, but if you don't usually chart your CM, you might not know what is most fertile for you. We're all different.

I don't have a clue what it is but I'm assuming it's ewcm because of the stage in my cycle and because it matches the descriptions I've read of it. My opk yesterday showed a faint line so I guess my LH is on the rise but I know that doesn't necessarily mean I will ovulate.
