Implantation bleeding?

Can anybody help? I have very regular cycles usually of 28 days but today my period came out of the blue and isn't due until Saturday.

It seems light (although this could have been because it has only just started) - my underwear is slightly soiled and I first noticed bleeding at 3:30 this afternoon.

No black clots as yet which I usually get from a period and I am experiencing cramps which are more painful than normal.

I think it's a period but why has it come early - is there a chance this is an implantation bleed?

Hi mana from my general understanding but not personal experience...

implantation spotting, does not look like a regular menstrual period. Implantation bleeding is scanty and usually pink or brownish discharge. Implantation bleeding is often brown in color though some mention it to be more reddish.
