Bucket list (another thing to avoid in 2ww)

Has anyone got a ttc bucket list?

Whilst on this journey.....I want to keep myself entertained. Now obviously there are things that we can't do during pregnancy (and should be avoided in 2ww too).

As I keep an eagle eye on the Pregnancy threads, I've noticed a few things I should be prioritising right now Wink

  • glass of wine (obviously)
  • pâté (I didn't know you're not supposed to eat this whilst pregnant. I haven't had any for ages - and now really craving some! Grin)
.....I'm sure Ill think of some more.

So if AF arrives soon...what will you "treat" yourself with?

I just saw some good ones on another thread...

  • Brie
  • ibuprofen ( though only when in pain obviously!)
  • pâté
  • glass of wine

I feel I should add something adventurous like "go ape" but Im too much of a scaredy cat! Grin

McFlurry!

pizzaqueen · 07/08/2013 19:43

why cant you have mcflurry? nonsense!

rare steak or any other raw meat
shushi

snoozysleeper · 07/08/2013 20:29

The bucket list sounds really yummy ( aside from ibuprofen)

I love Brie and sushi, although not together of course!

I think you can add caffeinated drinks , I know when pregnant there's a limit to how many a day...i'm trying to cut down now....I rely on caffeine too much anyway

I think you can safely have mcflurry either way Smile although still a tasty option

Brew Brew Brew

Ps. I'm on 2ww so avoiding all anyway Sad

snoozysleeper · 07/08/2013 20:37

Me again Blush but is there something to do with saunas/spas?

I had a friend who avoided this during her pregnancy

I'm so stressed I would love to book in for spa ..... Confused I will have to look into this more ....

pizzaqueen · 07/08/2013 20:41

yeh avoid sauna later in pregnancy something to do with the amniotic fluid heating up. Jacuzzi and other spa stuff should be fine you can have normal back massage because you can't lie on your front really but most good spas will do a pregnancy massage / spa package and telk you what's suitable.

Runny eggs

Soft ice cream should be avoided because of the risk of listeria so I probably wouldn't have a Mr Whippy, McFlurry or a Sundae.

Overheating the body at any stage of pregnancy (and especially the first trimester) is to be avoided which is why jacuzzis and saunas should be avoided.

snoozysleeper · 09/08/2013 01:47

Thank you solai your advice re: saunas etc tallies with what I've been reading ...

But perusing NHS UK website, the advice re: Soft ice cream is different to yours, quote:

"Soft ice creams should be fine to eat when you're pregnant, as they are processed products made with pasteurised milk. However, if you have any concerns about eating these products, you might wish to avoid them while you're pregnant. "

The web link is really useful and references advice for foods to avoid when pregnant...

I hope that helps Smile

snoozysleeper Just went to that list too, and there is so much more things listed than I would ever had thought off and compared to the list from Denmark (My home country) it contains a lot more things...
I should really cut down on my tea or drink decaf tea, because I drink way to much of that, and I am in my 2ww now.... But I really like my tea...

snoozysleeper · 09/08/2013 14:30

italian I couldn't agree more, I'm glad you think the list is useful too... It's interesting the different advice out there on a global level, I'll err on side of caution though Smile

VJONES1985 · 09/08/2013 14:35

I love blue cheese and am gutted I can't eat it! (I'm avoiding all these things even though I'm not yet on 2ww).

Sparrowlegs248 · 09/08/2013 18:22

I thought all whippy type ice cream was a no no due to something.....listeria? Or something else. Oh well, brill. Love a mcflurry!

snoozysleeper · 09/08/2013 23:27

I think listeria is a problem with unpasteurised products so if pasteurised should be ok as per nhs advice , you shouldnt have unpasteurised milk for that reason either

Solaia · 11/08/2013 09:47

Hi

It's not about it being pasteurised or not, it's about the machine. Listeria can grow in soft-serve ice cream machines if they are not maintained and cleaned properly. So it's not the food itself, it's the method of serving.

It's a low risk (like most other 'avoid whilst pregnant' risks) but personally, it's not one I'm willing to take.

snoozysleeper · 11/08/2013 20:26

solai of course you should do whatever feels right for you

I'm happy to follow the NHS advice on these issues though
