What do you do when you get the flashing smiley, indicating high but not peak fertility?

Wait until the fixed smiley (peak fertility) appears and then SWI? Start SWI now and every day until the fixed smiley has disappeared?

My inclination is the latter but we did that last month and weren't successful, worried sperm quality declines if SWI 4-5 days in a row.

TIA

I used the sticks. So not quite the same but I got a + on the Thursday we dtd on Thursday night, Friday night missed Saturday as dh was away and then again on Sunday. I followed the sperm meets egg plan (Google smep)

Hth

Sorry no clue what SWI means?

CatsCantFlyFast · 07/08/2013 11:13

Every day sex is fine and has been proven to actually improve sperm quality assuming there are no sperm count issues (in which case EOD is better).
I would start having sex now, sperm can live up to 5 days, and so theoretically more sperm in the right place will increase your chances.
Don't judge everything by the fact you didn't get pregnant last cycle, it doesn't mean you did anything wrong, just that the chances of getting pregnant each cycle are pretty low either way. Good luck

We DTD on CD 14 & 15. Got fixed smileys on CB OPKS on CD 15 & 16.

BFP on CD 27 Smile

So maybe start DTD asap (and definitely) before smileys. Hope that helps!

blueamber · 07/08/2013 13:55

When you get the flashing ones, start having sex every other day if you're not already. Every day is not necessary, as sperm can live inside you for at least 2 days. Doing it every day shouldn't reduce sperm quality if your oh's sperm is of good quality, but it won't improve it either. Keep going for a few days after you get your fixed, because you will ovulate within 12 - 36 hours after your first fixed.

Thanks all. I wasn't expecting my flashing smiley today, based on previous cycles ov shouldn't be until Monday. But I guess it's not an exact science.

I think 6 days SWI (shagging/sex with intent for the poster who asked Smile) might actually be too much for us ancient people so might start every other day until fixed smiley appears...

Congratulations Kitty Smile

Hmpff have now had three days of flashing smileys! That's not what it says on the box: should be two days flashing then fixed AngryGrin

Oh well will just have to keep going!

Don't worry about how many days f flashing you get, there's numerous threads on here of people getting more than cb state. Just keep dtd every other day and as soon as you get your fixed up it to dtd every day for 3days straight. Good luck!

Wildwaterfalls · 09/08/2013 19:44

Thanks BNmum - will stop worrying and follow that plan!

Have you had your fixed smiley yet wildwaterfalls?

RaRaZ · 11/08/2013 08:41

If you Google it (as I did when panicking last month Blush), you'll see that some people have as many as six or eight flashing High Fertility days. It doesn't seem to be a problem - as long as you do eventually get Peak. I guess it just means your oestrogen is rising for longer before it detects the rise in LH.

Wildwaterfalls · 11/08/2013 10:13

Funny you should ask... No - now I have had five flashing smileys in a row. Not sure what's going on and whether the fact I am still bf is messing up my hormones, but will keep POAS...

I used them for one month, I had flashing smiling every day for 13 days. Must be really fertile I thought but didn't help. Haven't done them since as it didn't really help having l those flashing days, just meant we kept going and going and going!

I wouldn't wait for the fixed to get to it though, for sure. I'd go with EOD if possible regardless of what stick says.

Wildwaterfalls · 11/08/2013 22:49

Wow Dulcet 13 days! I know what you mean re keeping going and going and going... We're doing an 'every other day' approach while the smileys are still flashing but even that is exhausting Blush

Tomorrow is my expected day for ov so really hoping for a fixed smiley then...

Quick update: fixed smiley this morning. Finally and in line with expected ov date.

Not sure this OPK is worth it actually, given the cost and the anxiety it has caused...

OP posts:
RaRaZ · 12/08/2013 09:57

13 days is a bit excessive - presumably your oestrogen levels must start rising early, Wild Hmm. Could be an expensive habit! Hopefully after a month or two, you'll have a much better idea of when you're going to ovulate anyway (or better still, not ovulate at all cos you're already pg). Are you charting temps etc too?

Wildwaterfalls · 12/08/2013 15:01

Thanks RaraZ, yes on balance the while thing seems a waste of money. I expected to ov today, was ironically pleased with the OPK for picking up such early fertility signs, but now after all these flashing smileys it turns out ov is today after all.

Think I'll just go with the usual feeling/EWCM signs next month, although as you say hopefully not needed Smile
