Any point bothering with O+12 or Shettles?

I've have bored myself to death reading about Shettles and now O+12 pages, as am about to TTC DC2.
The methods completely contradict each other, and I'm wondering if there's really any point to trying either?
Have any of you read up more and do you think it's really worth a shot? If so, which method do you think is best?

DH and I will be very happy if we have a second son, but thought we would make an attempt to have a girl as we're definitely stopping at two, and both of us would have liked a daughter.
DH is one of three brothers, so without tipping the odds in our favour i reckon we'll probably have another boy, in my extremely unscientific opinion!

(No need for anyone to flame me, I'm not after a 'doll' to dress up thank you very much.)

Hello

Sorry I have no experience of either. I have just looked them both up. Shuttles seems easy to follow, though o+12 seems a higher risk, as being able to pinpoint ovulation so accurately must be difficult to do until after it has occurred.

It's your body - so I say do whatever you want. But I would guess following either method would potentially increase the time it might take to conceive due to their restrictions.

I agree a boy and a girl would be a perfect balanced family! Good luck!

In the Impatient woman's guide to getting pregnant, which is based on scientific research, there are some things you can do to shift the chances, such as changing your diet. Also, it says that dtd a few days or longer before ov, has a higher chance of conceiving a boy; and dtd on the day of ov results in a higher chance of getting a girl. Opposite to shettles!

Thank you both for replying!
blueamber that is similar to the O+12 so maybe we'll just that a go for a couple of months.

If we don't get a BFP within 3/4 months I'll give up all this faffing and just get on with it!
