Hi all, I stopped taking my pill in April and have been actively ttc since then. I am 35 but I'm lucky enough to have a toyboy of 26! I am using the fertility friend app on my phone and to help give a better picture I started taking my temp last Sunday. From Sunday until Wednesday it was fairly constant but on Thursday it shot right up. At this point I presume I'd ovulated on Wednesday as also that day I had lower abdomen pains, frequent urination and light headedness. However on Friday my temp was back down, same on Saturday then today it has rose again but not as much as it did on thursday?? My predicted o day was Friday. Any ideas or shall I wait to see what temp is tomorrow as I understand I'm looking for 3 days of higher temps?? This TTC lark makes you go crazy who'd have thought it was so hard! Good luck to everyone Smile

Hello
I'm using FF too.

I think it can be difficult to spot a pattern with only a weeks worth of data. You're right - you need three high temps, but they should be higher than your previous 6.

So you might have ovulated, but I think it'd be difficult to confirm for definite.

Can you post a link to our chart so we can see?

Ideally you should start temping from the first day of your period so that you can build an accurate picture of your whole cycle. You can't interpret temperatures over such a short space of time as the whole point of temping is to be able to compare several different cycles and see the patterns that show what is normal for you.

To confirm ovulation you need a sustained temperature rise over at least 3 days and it should remain above the baseline for your whole luteal phase.

Just remember that lots of things can influence variations in temperature - taking it at a different time of day, if you've been ill, etc.

Thanks for comments. Yeah I thought that was the case so will see what my temp is over next few days, its just so frustrating. I used ff from my af at end of June but without temping. In July 5 days before my period was due I had spotting then one day of light flow then back to spotting so don't think my cycle is quite back on track yet. Thought I'd be best doing my temps too so got a bbt and started taking them last week hoping I'll get a clearer picture of my cycle now. It's just so frustrating pretty sure that during July we def dtd during what should have been my fertile time. Worried I've left it too late in my life and its gonna be harder for me now Sad

You're looking at an overall pattern and not individual temps. It's possible the Thursday temp was an outlier and that you ov'd on Friday. I took my temp this month and it showed I ov'd two days after getting ov pains, so it is possible.

It helps to look out for other signs as well, such as cervical mucus, or cervical position.

It's also possible that you're not ovulating yet. It took my body over three months after stopping the pill to ovulate. It could take up to six months, but it should go back to normal eventually.

Yes blueamber I did wonder if I wasn't yet ovulating. Also all the af's I have had since stopping taking the pill have been v light and without giving tmi there are very few clots present Blush I really hope I am ovulating or I do soon as that's kinda vital in this process Hmm

If you are acing semi-regular periods then I'd say it is likely you are ovulating. I have PCOS which means I have very irregular cycles - I didn't have a period for 6 months after coming off the Pill!

FrankelInFoal · 04/08/2013 16:53

acing = having

EmJay9 · 04/08/2013 20:13

Thanks frankel. I have had fairly regular af since coming off the pill they are just very light. Last one was a day of spotting which I hoped could be implant bleed, then 1 day of v light flow followed by 2 days of spotting so hardly an af at all! Sorry to hear of your irregular cycle but good luck!
