Ovulation pain

I'm ttc #2 and since coming off the pill 3 years ago I've found that I suffer from ovulation pain. Obviously this has its advantages as I reckon that sometime in the next couple of days I'll ovulate but I'm also having to take painkillers every month to be able to dtd on the right days!

Just wondering if anybody has any good natural remedies/alternatives to painkillers as I try not to take too much ibuprofen etc when ttc as I've got it into my head that it might reduce our chances! Smile

You shouldn't take ibuprofen or aspirin if you're ttc. Only paracetamol (in small doses) is considered safe. Agnus castus and evening primrose oil are both good for cramps, but they're not considered safe to take in the second part of your cycle. You could probably get away with taking them up to ovulation, but not after. Exercise? I find that helps.

How long does it last? I get it quite strongly, but it only lasts for a day, so I just get through it. A hot water bottle also helps. Don't take ibuprofen as this can delay ovulation, but you can take paracetamol as raraz said.

I've always had ovulation pain and find that a hot water bottle, exercise and a bath are the three things which help.

I'll second the hwb - I even slept with one earlier this month in 25 degree heat cos the pain was that nasty, but it worked!

Thanks for the replies and advice, just been doing some googling on ibuprofen and ovulation - I had no idea it could delay/stop you ovulating altogether.

Now having a panic as I took two ordinary (as in supermarket own brand) ibuprofen last night as the pain was bad and it ended up going down my legs as well?! Hoping two won't make a difference but I won't be taking any more that's for sure! I hope I haven't ruined our chances this month Sad

The pain this month hasn't been as bad, still getting some twinges today and I could feel it last night when dtd (sorry tmi) Last month it lasted on and off for a week but that was the first proper ovulation since the mmc so that may have made a difference.

I think it will just have to be a grin and bear it situation (and hot water bottles in cooler weather) and hope I get another bfp soon Smile
