JA here again with more daft questions... please bear with me
Went to accupuncturist this morning and brought her my temp chart. FF hasn't picked up ovulation yet and I'm on day 17 but she reckons I ov'd on day 11? I don't understand really where she gets that from, (the immediate large spike on day 12 down to a big night out) also she says that day 11 is too early and she wants to bring it to 13 or so and that my temp in general is low at an average of about 36.1 I think.
Is that low? Does that matter? I'm afraid that it does 'cause she keeps talking about my kidneys and did I dream it or are they meant to be in charge of reproduction?
Anyway to cap it all I've been bleeding today, (apols if TMI), not a lot but I feel like you might before AF and found darkish blood on underwear and when I wipe, is this normal, she says it's normal but I've never bled on day 17 of a cycle in my life.
Could it be she's moving all sorts around and kinda messing me up to put me right???? (I sound mad now don't I but I'm very confused) Anyway with the fonts of knowledge and experience around here I figured someone may be able to throw a little light? My temps fyi have been as follows:

CD4 36.3
CD5 36.6
CD6 36.3
CD7 36.1
CD8 36.1
CD9 36.2
CD10 36.1
CD11 35.9
CD12 36.6 (Big party on Sat night, muchos alcohol)
CD13 36.0
CD14 36.1
CD15 36.2
CD16 36.0
CD17 36.3

Thanks for reading. I thought Ovn was more likely to be yest/2day type of time so I'm totally thrown and don't see how I could be 6DPO already with temps like that.

Hi

As no one has replied for you i thought i would give you a bump and my opinion even though i am not very good with temps etc.

However, maybe your acupuncuturist thinks you ovulated because you temp dropped on day 11 to below any of your other temps.

How long have you been seeing her/him? I have just started for ovulation reasons, may i be rude and ask what you see her/him for?

Hope this helps and thanks

i would like to see the rest of the temps for the month, looking at theose i would say that you haven't ov yet !! ( up to cd17), you mat ov late in the month.... worth looking at rest of chart...

What is your normal monthly cycle, how long ?

littlefrog · 09/06/2006 21:45

Definitely agree with Rachee, you need to look at more than one month to know what's happening. I did temps for nearly 18 months NOT to conceive, and never felt entirely confident with it - as you say, an evening out (or taking your temperature late) really messes things up. Temps plus EWCM much more reliable.
I saw a great NHS Natural Family Planning nurse every couple of months for the first while, who helped me understand what was going on. But from what I can remember, EWCM tells you that you are going to ovuluate, while temps tell you that you have. And for the temp rise to count then three consecutive days must have a higher temp than the previous six. Which suggests that you and not your acupuncturist are right! There's some good stuff on the web about this at fertilityuk.org - though it's even better talking to someone. I think they've got a list of NHS NFP practitioners somewhere, maybe there's one near you? (Mine I think would help with conception as well as contraception)

trace2 · 09/06/2006 22:56

yes i agree with the other two, it dont look like youve ovulated yet, i dont start teming every month untill day 6 because af can make a diffrence! and to know you have ovulated you have to have three consecutive days of high

Hopecat · 10/06/2006 18:52

Agree with other posts - it does not appear from the data that you've posted that you have ovulated. Do bear in mind though ( as I think someone else mentioned) that temping is supposed to give you a long term overview, and is not THAT effective if analysed on a day-to-day basis.

Also accupuncture - although cautiously respected by the medical establishment - can be practised by anyone who goes through the training. The practitioners (as far as I'm aware - please correct me if I'm wrong) do not have to be approved by any independently regulated body. The point I'm trying to make, I suppose, is that this practitioner may not know what she's talking about (and it sounds like she doesn't).

Re the dark blood, poss implantation/OV bleed.

bobblehead · 10/06/2006 23:04

Just out of curiosity, why does she think day 11 is too early and want to bring it to day 13? I thought it didn't matter when you ovulated as long as the luteal phase was long enough?

janeausten · 12/06/2006 09:48

Hi there
Thanks to everyone who responded to my queries. My accupuncturist seems to deal quite a lot fertility type issues and I suppose at the beginning in particular you kind of are nervous and intimidated and assume they know it all but I reckon at this stage, the real experts are on here.
There was also a little part of me that would have liked her to be right because then I could have put the bleeding on CD17 down as implantation. Anyway I thought it had stopped on Sat morning but no it started again and yesterday (Sun) was heavier and reddish and clots etc (apols for tmi) and it hasn't even fully stopped today so I'm feeling a little freaked out as to what's going on and according to FF I STILL haven't ovulated (which was by big underlying fear all along). I'm going to try to go to the doctor tomorrow, has anyone any advice as to what I should be looking for from my GP?
BTW updates on temps are as follows:
CD4 36.3
CD5 36.6
CD6 36.3
CD7 36.1
CD8 36.1
CD9 36.2
CD10 36.1
CD11 35.9
CD12 36.6 (Big party on Sat night, muchos alcohol)
CD13 36.0
CD14 36.1
CD15 36.2
CD16 36.0
CD17 36.3
CD18 36.3
CD19 36.3
CD20 36.0

One last question - has anyone ovulated and FF said they haven't?
Thanks all for your patience and wisdom. Much appreciated.

Sorry you're going through all this confusion JA. All I can say is that when I tried temping it was totally inconclusive & ff didn't spot my OVing.

I've had several blood tests though (due to DH's ongoing treatment) and I appear to be ovulating perfectly 'normally' in the middle of my cycle.

Don't worry too much - just see what the GP says. Odds on it'll turn out to be nothing to worry about.
