Quick q on Boots pregnancy tests....

OK - so I think i'm around 2 days late. Bought the cheaper Boots own brand preg test, woke hideously early this morning and thought what the hell, i'll quickly test. My aim was horrific. Despite instructions saying don't pee above the blue arrow, don't pee on the result boxes..I did, twice. The result had a faint line in the preg box. Do I trust it?? Or have I cocked it up by peeing too high up the stick??

Any experience much appreciated. Will obviously buy another test and test after work but curious to know now! Might pee in a beaker this time though.....and then dip the stick thing in.

I'd trust it congratulations! There has to be hcg present to get a line

Thanks Insanely. It does beg the question - why the VERY draconian instructions about not getting the results boxes covered in pee.... Any experience of other tests? Is the rip off Clear Blue more bullet proof?

You don't need to give your money to Clearblue. They aren't actually as sensitive as some tests.

Any test will do. Poundland do two for £1 or any supermarket, Superdrug, Boots own etc. The only ones I'd avoid are the +/- ones.

And definitely wee in a cup and dip. I'd tentatively suggest it's positive but would just get a test to confirm.

Much appreciated ShowOfHands. Will snap up another pack of Boots tests and let you know the results. Will go for the cup route this time. Presume it is foolproof??

I used £1 ones from poundland, they worked fine.
You most probably are pregnant, but take another test to be sure, doesn't have to be expensive either.

ShowOfHands · 24/07/2013 10:44

Foolproof? Nope. You could slip on a patch of stray bathwater and chuck pee all over your feet. Grin

It's a much better way of doing it. Although, if you are pregnant, aiming for a stick is good practice for the aiming at a specimen bottle experience.... Seriously, wee in a jug and pour before each antenatal appointment.

Didn't seem to be quite so inept with DCs 1 and 2!

Did another test last night (peeing into a cup this time) and bingo - pregnant. Thanks for all your advice.
Now panicking about the amount of booze and stinky cheese I've eaten over the last 2 weeks....

Congratulations Getmetothebeach.

And no worries about the booze and cheese. The baby wouldn't have even implanted at that point anyway.

Have a happy and healthy pregnancy
