Question about ovulation...

Me and my DH have decided TTC DC2 so have just come off cerazette last week. I?ve never had regular periods, and aswell as having PCOS I can never tell when I ovulate! Is there any other way I can tell? Last period I had was the beginning of May. Was 3 years ago when I was last pregnant so I can?t remember much! I?ve had cramps this week, so not sure if that is just coming off the pill symptoms or ovulation? TIA

With PCOS it is unlikely that you are ovulating regularly if at all. However, there are treatments out there that can help PCOSers.

There is no fool proof way apart from blood tests to tell whether you've ovulated or otherwise. OPKs and temp charting are particularly problematic when it comes to PCOS so I would avoid these altogether.

As you've already been diagnosed with PCOS I would actually seek further medical advice. Did you need fertility treatment previously?.

Attila - what's the problem with opks with PCOS? Is it that you may have the hormone surge but not be able to erase the egg?

Erase? Release.

Have a look for Cervical changes such as position and mucus. I have irregular periods (only one this year so far) but I did get AF exactly 2 weeks after I noticed some EWCM. It doesn't definitely mean I ovulated but it does show my body is doing some of the right things and helps me pin point when to focus our efforts. I would recommend DTD every other day just in case or if that's too regular for you and your partner try at least every 2-3 days from after your period ends.
Good Luck and I hope you get your BFP soon!

Nope I was only 20 when I had DS, took 3 months to concieve him, but at the time I didn?t know I had PCOS, but I don?t know if I had it before or not. Got diagnosed when he was a year old. Will see what happens over the next couple of months then see my GP. Thanks.

Hi suzie. PCOSers generally have higher than normal levels of LH. LH is the hormone OPKs detect. So you can get false positives.

Sorry for TMI !but we DTD 2 days ago and just been to the loo now and loads of white thick discharge/cum has come out :S would this just be a delay of it all coming out, or signs of me ovulating? Didn?t want to sound stupid! also getting stomach cramps too. TIA

Wow I'd think you must have vulva like a safe to keep ejaculate in for 2 days Grin
It's probably more likely to be a natural change to your own discharge. If you can stretch it between your fingers it's EWCM but it should be clear in colour. Although any time I've had EW it's been mixed with creamy colour.
Keep checking regularly and you might start to notice a pattern Smile

I can't imagine discussing any of this stuff over a cuppa with my mates haha!

ThoraNomiki Haha I did find it rather odd that it would be that but it looked exactly like it! Thanks am going to keep a note of this as don't get AF's so this might help me get an idea of things! & I know didn't really want to blurt this out to anyone! Least I can hide behind the computer!
