What's the earliest you can ovulate after a period?

Over course of last two years my periods have been irregular so I don't known always when I'm ovulating. This month, I notice from mucus that I might be fertile now - but it's only 7 days since my period started (which only lasted a few days).

I must sound incredibly thick but could I be ovulating now? My cycle has been known to start up 20 days after last...

TIA

Yes, you could well be ovulating soon, it can happen as a one off on any women's cycle but your cycle is generally pretty short, right? With a cycle, say of 22 days, ovulating between day 8 and 12 would be likely. Fertile CM should be around in the days leading up to ovulation, so you are most likely ov within the next few days.

yes its possible. I have a short cycle (22-24 days) and ovulate on cd 10/11, this is about 5 days after my period has finished.

its best to dtd over the whole cycle then you dont miss ovulation. we dtd from cd 7-18/20

I know someone who conceived the day after their period had finished. So you obvioulsy can ovulate very early in your cycle. xx

I started my period on the 9th and I got my first smiley yesterday, which is pretty early compared to what I had expected.

Also, I've read about a tribe in Africa who are only permitted to have sex during the woman's period for religious reasons. They haven't died out.... There may be some cheating, but supposedly they're a pretty strict tribe...
